difference between filezilla client and filezilla server.I have been using filezilla client for past few days and while downloading Filezilla i come across two options filezilla client and file zilla server. After searching many sites for the info related to server,I am still unclear what is the exact use of filezilla server.I just know that if filezilla client is used to connect to a web server, FileZilla server is used as the Web Server; you can't connect to other web servers with it.still i am bit confused with this answer/research????

FileZilla Server is an application that acts as an FTP server. Users can use a FTP client to connect to a FileZilla Server and download or upload files. Users cannot use the FileZilla Server to connect to other servers - it only allows connections in.

FileZilla Client is an application that allows a user to connect to an FTP server. Users can use the client to connect to any number of FTP server. The clients allow users to upload or download files etc.

filezilla server is not a web server it is an ftp server. thus if there a main computer in a LAN which can be used for supplying and receiving files. we can install filezilla in it and use it as a fileserver(FTP(file transfer protocol))

Right ....but just to add to that answer, the filezilla client enables the enduser to connect to the filezilla server and gives him a convenient interfaceto transfer files to and from from the filezilla server. However for the filezilla client to connect to the filezilla server the client needs to know the FZ servers ip address and port on which it is running.

So a simple form of usage would be to map a directory on your local system to the user account on the filezilla server and connect via fileclientto see the contents of that folder and then access it to download or uploadfiles across the network. In case of any doubts please get back.

I also have another issue. Currently I can access the WebUI and connect to the Filezilla client, but it will not respond to any commands. It did this once before and the only fix I had was to clean out the files from the config folder and restart the Docker.

I have it installed and I am able to login to my ftp server however the speed seems to be capped at 1.5 MB/s which is significantly slower than transfer the same file via filezilla on my windows machine. I have checked that there are no speed limits enabled.

My unraid server is wired into the same router as my windows machine and I have 150/20mbps internet and can usually get around 4-8 MB/s on windows with filezilla. Over Ethernet I can get write speeds up to 100MB/s so I know its my Ethernet port on the server.

Then, since it is only a client (it is not hosting ftp since you mention that is windows based), I can send files from my source folder (or fetched folder if I wish) and pull files from any source via ftp...

I know, this is silly, it makes perfect sense. So, long story short, instead of having to rely on my normal computer as an FTP client, I can push and pull files via this simple docker container and turn off my regular machine as it is no longer needed..........

Still an issue for me, I can download 10 files at a time or just a single file, NO FILE WILL GO FASTER THAN 1.5. It is not the site i download from as i can easily get over 20 on a single file with filezilla on my imac

I have since moved onto a different FTP client that will allow multiple connections to a single file, segmented downloading, Cuteftp 9 and Free download manager do this perfectly and i am not limited to 1.5mbps per file. I have also created a topic on filezillas site as other peeps have and the admin / team have ignored the fact that people want multipart/segemented downloads.

do we download filezilla for client or for server? it saysPick the client if you want to transfer files. Get the server if you want to make files available for others. but im not really sure what both of those are im guessing its the filezilla for client because we are just updating files wordpress? when would we share files?

Filezilla Server is for running a server, where you would host files and people can then download them from you. To connect to a server to edit files for wordpress, you definitely want Filezilla client.
