Hi Friends
Yahoo has released Messenger 8 beta with additional plugins for VOIP (voice)
http://news.digitaltrends.com/article10739.html Now i am not sure if this happened for all (coz someone once told me they could do it), but i was never able to type in Telugu unicode directly into the messenger window using
Akshamarala software. The text used to get converted to '???' marks. If we typed unicode outside & pasted, then it was fine..but that was not convenient for chatting.
I just now downloaded and tried this new beta version, and was happy to see that now I am able to directly type in Telugu. An example:

So to start chatting in your own mother tongue, just a few simple steps to be followed:
1. Get the latest Y! Messenger from here
http://messenger.yahoo.com 2. Install Aksharamala software...it is a free unicode software for windows (
http://www.bhaavana.net/Rangavalli/aksharamala.html )
from here
http://www.aksharamala.com (at the time of typing this link was down...hope it should be up soon)
3. Now when needed just enable it, and start chatting in Telugu with ur friends!
If this already worked for someone with previous Y! Messenger versions, thats good. Since i discovered it just now, I would like to spread the message, and encourage everyone to try this out...it is cool!
And I hope the Aksharamala site link goes up soon.
