There are 52 stories in this book. Very nicely written in conversational style.
There should be a total of 70 stories.
I have read those sold on pavements * but not of good quality.
None of these prose versions have 70 stories.

Well, మహిళావరణం didn't include quite a few names! ummm...
At the risk of blowing self trumpet, I posted quite a few times about
her and her books. Both on TELUSA and RB.
4 books of her are available, in Hyderabad, for sale. BUT, not in
regular bookshops. You have to put an extra effort to get them.
Her Ph.D thesis on "Rate schools of Godavari" and the one on "Alluri
Seetaaraamaraaju" were published by A.P. Archives. They don't have
any sales outlets in A.P. So, you have to walk into APA, in Tarnaka,
(quite opposite to Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, or is
it IICT? Well, I am not so well acquainted with Hyd city.), find
(rather struggle!) your way to the person responsible for the book
sales.
[On a related note, there is a good book(let) on Alluri
Seetaaraamaraaju by Atlury Murali of Central Univ. He also has 2
longish essays on ASR in "Socil Scientist". Social Scientist is
archived these days at UChicago, and you should be able to find both
those essays from early 90s. I posted the URL to SS@Uchicago on this
list.]
Then, her book on క్రైస్తవ మిషనరీల సేవ was published by
Telugu Academy. I bought my copy in their Himayat Nagar (?) office in
1997.
Recently Telugu university has brought out (a summary, in Telugu, of)
her work on "Early printing in Telugu". Its available in TU's
bookshop and also Visalandhra shops. (I didnot buy it though!).
I am not sure, if you 'd get a copy of her "Book printing in India
with a special reference to Europeans' contribution to Telugu". It
was published by late Bandi Gopalareddy (popularly known as baMgOre)
in early 70s.
I am pleased to see that she is bringing out a book on పాలెగాళ్ళు.
I read one of her papers on "Polegars" in the Journal of Andhra
Historical Research.

off-hand I can't give you a Telugu 'prose' reference. But, can say
that the stories are also available in prose. I vividly remember
reading them as a kid in our village library. Otherwise, I only have
పాలకావేరి కదిరీపతి's version (edited by Biruduraaju
Raamaraaju) published by A.P. Saahitya Akademi. This text is also
available in digital form on web.
For an English version, you may like to check A.N.D. Haksar's
"Shuka Saptati : seventy tales of the parrot", HarperCollins
Publishers, 2000. There are more scholarly translations, from
Indologists/Sanskritists in various European languages, but, I guess,
Haksar's the easy-to-read version.
