Dear friends,
This is for the information of any members who love our clasical dance forms and much more too.Yesterday one of our members Ragasudha invited me for the above said program, conducted on the occasion of the second death anniversary of her father. It is a very long story of finding 500 yr old script sculpted on stones on Tirumala. It was deciphered by epigraphists, rewritten in Telugu. It seems it was already composed in different ragas too. So,it was taken up by Smt.Uma Ramarao garu, renowned dance guru.Ragasudha requested her to arrange this performance for the said occasion.
We are used to see daSAvatAras depicted as in jayadEva's ashTapadis. But these are very different.each avataaraa is described in 12 lines instead of 2 as in jayadEva's ashTapadi.
The dance recital was preceded by a seminar wherein various scholars explained all the steps,in bringing the script into a dance form.I shall not explain it here, lest I miss any important information.
The lyrics, music, orchestration and dance were all competing with each other.Their master and all the students deserve great praises.
Ragasudha was in a depressive mood losing her uncle just 2 days back.As such her father's death anniversary. But she did not show a single sign of her sorrow, and gave an excellent performance before the main program too.She was very graceful with crisp expressions and elegant movements. She stole the show depicting narasimhaavataara. The hall was resounding with applause.
All the other dancers too did their best and kept the audience enchanted. This is only to express my feelings about the show,as an audience. There were some technical problems which caused some delay in the show. But in a nutshell,it was an unexpectedly beautiful program unlike many routine programs taking place in the city.
I suggest Ragasudha to bring out a detailed account and record too of the entire show.I am sure many of you would enjoy a lot like me.Thanks to Sudha for the experience,
Regards,
Koteswari.

The contribution of Prof Veturi Ananda Murty garu who continued the efforts of his father, in bringing out the publication should be applauded here.
