Namaste !
Recently we were blessed with a baby girl; we named Manasi. The
responsibility of educating my child in Telugu language and culture
fell in my lap as I am a Telugu speaking Andhra and my wife a
Tamilian.
In my quest for Jola Patalu, I came across the 'telusa' archives and
lyrics for some popular songs. My 'dharma sandeham' is regarding
the following :
EDavaku, EDavaku veRRi abbAyi
EDistE nI kaLLu nIlAlu kAru
nIlAlu kAritE nEjUDalEnu
pAlaina kaaravE bangAru kaLLu
nidrapO nAbAbu nidrapO nAnnA

ninuganna tanDriki ninDa nUrELLu
For my daughter, I plan to modify the above as below, but I have
a 'samasya pooranam' for lack of my telugu expertise. With so many
scholars in this group, can someone please help me fill in the gaps
with meaningful / rhyming words, and make any other appropriate
changes for my dear daughter. Many thanks !

Indeed, as Prasad gaaru mentioned, I remember that one version of the
song reads ఏడవకు ఏడవకు చిట్టి పాపాయీ. Suggestions by other

beautiful narration - it didn't occur to me that daughters 'feel'
the same distance as sons with their fathers; older generations had
always maintained that distance - not because of 'maDi' or something
but i think it came to them as a pass-on, from ages.
I think they did it because they could never accept their kids as
grown-ups perhaps; but most turn very quickly once they themselves
really grow-up after they reach 60 or so!!
if it makes anyone curious, it was this way in America as recently
as in 50's just like in India, fathers always maintained distance
with their kids, especially sons as I said before, but now i have
come to know about a daughter's view point as well.
Things have changed with fewer kids, for the better -
