In 80s and early 90s Gopi gaaru used live in a rental house at 17 Laxmi Colony,
T.Nagar, Chennai. Actor Chandra Mohan was the owner of that building.
After that house was sold to build apartments he moved to another place in
T.Nagar
and later got a paralysis stroke and died at a young age.
I called my uncle to collect some information and here is what he had told me -

It gave some insight on Mylavarapu Gopi garu who penned many wonderful verses.
So what, he has not written in hundreds or thousands, but he had written a few
extremely memorable songs, like:
- malli malli paadali eepaata in Mattilo Manikyam (of Chalam)
- idigo devudu chesina bomma in Pandanti Kaapuram
- kotiki okare pudataru punya murthulu in Manishi Rodduna Paddadu (of Rajababu)
- evariki vare yamuna there in Evariki Vare Yamuna There (of Rajababu)
- Sri Satyanarayanuni sevaku raarandi in Gruhapravesam
- daari chupina devata in Gruhapravesam
- nee cheyi naa cheyi pena vesi baasa cheyi in Jatakaratna Midathambhotlu
etc.
My desire to know of him stemmed almost 2-3 decades ago after listening to
those songs.
But have not had much of opportunity to explore further.
I felt a bit sad to hear about his last days.
Somehow the fate of good writers has not been really good.
I read that even the prolific song writer Veturi garu could not afford a house!
Does it seem that media and in general, public give heavy weight (or undue
respect) to the singers than the Brahmas of those verses!
