Dear Jampala garu

Sad that I have to convey the death news of our dear friend Mr Chalasani
Prasad rao. He died at the early hours of June 12 Wednesday 2002 in
Warangal, Andhra Pradesh. He is ailing with lung trouble for some days.

Mr Chalasani hails from krishna district. At the age of 8 while studying
in primary school Mr prasadarao lost his hearing capacity due to some
fever which never recovered. His deafness never stood in his way to
achieve marvellous writing capacity. Mr Chalasani prasad rao joined Praja
Sakti news paper at Vijayawada and worked for communist party . He
acquainted himself with party cadre and leaders at all levels including
Puchalapalli sundaraiah, Makineni Basavapunnaiah, Chandra Rajeswararao,
Ravi Narayanareddi etc.

His father migrated from village to vijayawada and then proceeded to
Srikakulam district and from there to Warangal. Chalasani Prasad rao also
travelled along with him. In 1950-52 Mr Chalasani prasad was in Kota
Bommali village and Santa Bommali village where he read lots of books. On
return to Vijayawada, he spent time in Ram Mohan Roy library and
concentrated on fiction and literary fields. In 1955 he went to Warangal
where he studied art and architecure while spending in Ravi Varma photo
studio. There he became a friend of Kaloji Narayanarao, Pamulaparthi
Sadasivarao and P. Narasimhaswami (Andhra Prabha journalist).
By then, Mr Prasad Rao has already became good friend of Narla
Chiranjeevi, Maddukuri Chandrasekhararao, Dasari Nagabhushanarao,
and Rambhatla Krishna murthy.

>From Warrangal, Mr Chalasani Prasad Rao came to Hyderabad in 1958 and
joined in Fine arts college. After passing through the fine arts course,
he joined government service and became artist in Information and Public
relations department.

Mr Prasad Rao married a teacher and he has one son and one daughter.
Mr Prasad rao joined Eenadu telugu daily as sunday magazine editor when it
commenced its first edition at Visakhapatnam. He operated from Hyderabad
only. Later he resigned to the government service and became full time
journalist employee in Eenadu until his death.

He traveled once to the TANA Conference in Chicago where he conducted an
exhibition of Andhra art. His writings in Eenadu (Kaburlu) became famous
for their critical, witty and satirical nature. Mr Prasad Rao published a
book entitled ఇలా మిగిలెఏం, discussing the reason for the decline of
the communist party. Communists, especially CPI, never pardoned him for
writing that book.

Mr Chalasani did yeoman service in the field of arts and published the
brief history of andhra artists and art. He edited a magazine, కళ. Mr
Prasad rao was a close friend of late Sanjiv Dev. Mr S.V. Rama rao, the
artist who settled in USA, is a close friend of Prasad. Mr Ramoji rao, the
editor of Eenadu, never allowed Mr Prasad rao to retire from the journal,
recognising his talent.

The sudden and unfortunate news about Sri Chalasani Prasada Rao gari
death came as a shock to me. I am associated with him very closely
for the last ten years or more. I am a fan of his writings since the
sixties as a regular reader of Jyoti monthly magazine published from
Madras/Vijayawada. Sri Prasada Rao garu published many books, some of
the titles of them are: Aaradugula Nela, Ilaa Migilam, Naako Pistol
Kaavaali, Raajula Booju, Kaburlu, Kalaa Kaanti, Aadhunika Chitrakala,
Master Peechu, Russian Chitrakala, Rasana etc. etc. Overall, he
published about 36 books. He published some books himself in the name
of Rekha Prachuranalu. That is in the name of his daughter Rekha, who
lives in College Station in Texas with her husband.

Whenever I went to Hyderabad, I used to make it a point to meet him
in Eenaadu office. We have the honour of Prasada Rao garu attending
the literary function we conducted in memory of my father (and
sponsored by Rachana Patrika) to award two short story writers in
December, 2000. Prasada Rao garu published many of my stories in
Vipula and brought out my novel "Cheekatilo Chandamama" in the
December, 1999 issue of Chatura. Actually I am in the process of
bringing out this novel as a book shortly and I wanted Sri Prasada
Rao garu to write the foreword. Though he spent 45 days in hospital,
as soon as he came home from the hospital, he wrote me an e:mail
saying that he would make time to write it and send me. I wrote him
back asking him to take care of his health first and do this later.

And now this news!

We really lost a great writer, painter/artist, editor, mentor and
most importantly, a very friendly person. May his soul rest in peace.

Hello Everybody,

Let me introduce myself first.
My name is Jyothi Potluri and I live in bayarea, California.
I have joined the group recently. Even before I joined the
group I have been reading the messages on the group. I have
always admired the fluency of telugu literature, members of
the group have and the excellent way they express their
thoughts.

Recently, we (Myself and a very small team in India)
have developed a website with information of telugu movies
and the industry.

The site can be accessed at http://www.ChitraSeema.com/

The site was launched on the 6th of this month by
Dr.Akkineni Nageshwara Rao garu. The function was
attended by many other prominent people in the industry
including Dr.C.Narayana Reddy, Sri D.V.Narasaraju,
famous producer K.L.Narayana, Sri Thammareddy Krishna Murthy,
director P.C.Reddy and many others.

The site has many attractions including the serial
"Mogali Rekulu" written by Sri D.V.Narasaraju. This serial
is an excellent narration of Sri D.V.Narasaraju's
experiences in the industry. The site is planned to host
exclusive interviews of yesteryears and newer generation.
Though currently the content in the site is quite thin,
we plan to add much more information in coming months.

We are looking for self made journalists :-) who can
write some reviews and articles for the site. The reviews can
be written in English or in Telugu. I thought this is the right
place to post this - the number of people with the similar
interest will be naturally more in this group.

If anyone of you is interested or know anyone who migtht be
interested in contributing content, articles please send
an email to pjyothi@y....

The address of the site again is http://www.ChitraSeema.com/

Any suggestions and comments regarding the site itself
are welcome. The suggestions, comments can be sent
to webmaster@C....

Thank you for your time.

regards
Jyothi Potluri

Hi,
I am research scholar at Hyderabad Central University. I am searching for the book "Kakatiya Sculptures" authored by Sri Chalasani Prasad Garu.
No where I found it. It would be great help, if I get some pointers regarding the book availability.

Thanks & Regards,
Chudamani D
