Hey Guys,
- Swati
Performance Title: Raitula Kashta Phalam ( or Raitu Phalam - A Farmer's Fruits of Labor) or Raitu-Anna (The Farmer) or Raitu Jeevitham
Group Name: The Matka Group (hehe....it's coz I was thinking of a melting pot of how we're all from different states of India..but might sound funny...but this is where my creativity has led me! :-D)
Description for Brochure: Andhra Pradesh - Historically known as the 'Rice Bowl of India' - is a state where Agriculture has transformed into a tradition shaping the cultural and economic life of it's people. Irrigated by the mighty Krishna and Godavari rivers, Agriculture accounts for a large portion of the state revenue with nearly 60% of the state's employment coming from the Agricultural sector.
The dance presented before you urges the farmer not to lose hope and depicts their life - the monsoons ringing in the storms and rains, dry lands then being irrigated by the swelling rivers and canals, cows ploughing the fields, sowing the seeds of the first crop and finally the celebration of the fruits of labor , the farmer's hard work - the harvest! This dance is dedicated to all those farmers who strive hard to feed the world yet living with the uncertainity of being able to feed themselves.
Description for MC's: Andhra Pradesh, rightly known as the Rice Canary of India, is chiefly an agricultural state and this next dance celebrates a farmer's life. The monsoons, the swelling rivers irrigating dry lands, the cows ploughing the fields, the seeds of the first crop and finally the fruit of the farmer's hard work - the harvest! This dance is dedicated to all those farmers who strive hard to feed the world yet living with the uncertainity of being able to feed themselves.
Excellent work Swati...love it...
I'm open to a Telugu name for the grp..although I love the idea of a melting pot....the word matka only reminds me of my growing belly these days haha :)

Suggestions for grp names :
1. Mudra group : comes from mudras or dance pose.
2. Mangala grp : happy ending of a dance.
3. Nrityangana : female dancer.
Or we can have lighter fun names like Swati suggested..like for e.g. happy feet...hahah...

Swati your suggestion is good, but the song already gives it away that it is about the farmers, so, how about we use SRAMAJIIVULU ( HARD WORKERS)
Group name suggestion : Narthaki's ( Dancer's) this is like professional types , if you say we'll have a funky/funny types then Sweet Sizzlers.

I'm ok with any of the three that Swati listed...I love pickles too ..only concern with that is its a little teeny boppish ...:( sorry ....a Telugu word for pickles might be grt in fact...anyway that's just an opinion...I'm ok with whatever we decide...
