God made Adam and Eve in His image and blessed them like this: “be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and ruling over every living creatures.” God joined Adam and Eve and blessed them and also He says in the Bible, I will be with you always. I will never leave you nor forsake you.
After God gave them children like many in this generation it seems that all the earth is filled with the people. In Psalm 127:3-5 “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”
In some cases He will delay to give children for some good reason. For example, Abraham and Sarah; Zachariah and Elizabeth. He says in His Word Psalm 113:9 “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.” In Isaiah 66:9 “Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.” Be patient and continue to pray and rejoice in the Lord and serve Him.
Now since God has blessed you with children, what is your responsibility as a mother? From birth they are looking at their mom’s face and most of the time they are in mother’s arms. Mother’s feed them, change clothes, give bath, etc… As well as every day observation and reflection, that mothers occupy a most vital and most influential place in the home and are a great formative power for good or evil over the children brought up under their influence and care.
Typically, the father goes to work spending long hours of the day. Therefore the work of training the children and their godly upbringing depends mostly upon the mother. As someone once said, “This is her divinely appointed work and she should devote herself wholly to that sacred and solemn business. The nursery must have the first place. Whatever else is left, let nothing induce you to neglect those precious immortal souls whom God Himself has most manifestly placed under your care to train for Him.”
We can see in Exodus 2:9 what Pharaoh’s daughter says to Moses’ mother, “And Pharaoh's daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the women took the child, and nursed it.” The same way the Lord says to all the mothers in whose arms He has laid a new born baby. Take this child and nurse it for Me till I claim mine own or I come. This is a blessed privilege to nurse and bring up child for the Lord.
As mothers/parents we have them for a very short time. When they are grown up they are watching their parents. So you must be a godly example to them in all the ways, in word and deeds Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” How important then for mothers/parents to be spiritually minded. Lamentation 2:19 says, “Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.” So you should not neglect to pray for your children. Parents are not only stewards for God, Christian mothers so often forget whose their children are? They belong to God. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 Hannah is a good example for every mother. Look unto your loving Lord Jesus. He is waiting for you to help. You cannot do this job by yourself.
Thank you all. May god bless you richly on this Mother’s day! (2013)
With love and prayers
