How to catch the elements of a new tab

I'm testing a functionality that consists in clicking in a link which will open a new page in a new tab. I need to verify the presence of some elements in this new tab, but it seems impossible, either to execute the action (clicking on link doesn't open a new tab), and to "catch" the elements of the new tab.
The html is defined below.

        <a href="" target="_blank" style="text-decoration: none;">

Since Tellurium uses Selenium APIs in the Selenium wrapper mode, you
could search for the solutions for Selenium and do the same in
Tellurium. Here are some threads:
