I can hardly get TellDJ Rehearsal to recognize much of anything I say... I tried turning up my mic with little effect.

Everything seems to be setup right, the icon is blue (ready) and using the keyboard shortcut it turns orange, I speak and a bubble pops up, lower right corner, "Couldn't find..."

I went into the Voice Recognition Lab and it looks like all songs are present. I go into the Test Center, Hold and Speak, and it recognizes if I say "artist" or not but no artist or song shows up in the results below, just a blank result with Artist and/or Song line titles.

Update: Well, I went to lunch, came back and it seems to be working better. I'll keep you updated.

A couple of tips that might help:
 - Make sure you don't say anything before the song title (unless you're launching an artist or playlist).
 - After you've made a request, give it half a second or so before letting go of the mouse (or releasing the keys on the keyboard). Releasing it too early may cut off the end part.
 - The microphone levels don't necessarily have to be high. Sometimes, if it's too high, it becomes too sensitive to backgroud noise.

However, you say that it's improved so please do keep me posted. Will try and help figure out what's causing the issue.

Thanks.

I've been looking into this issue for the whole day to see if I could figure out what was causing the inaccuracy. Unfortunately, I couldn't recreate the issue and neither could some other users. However, I just tried running TellDJ in Windows 8 and whilst it works sometimes, it has the same symptoms you describe (short words work quite often where as longer words come up with 'Cannot find ...'. I'm running Windows 8 in a virtual machine which may hint that it could be driver issues or simply a lack of speed. Could you ensure that your microphone drivers are up to date. I'll try booting into Windows 8 outside of a virtual machine and see if it's the VM causing the issue.

How many songs do you have in your collection (approximately)? I think I may (and I stress may) have found a possible cause.

Drivers are/were updated just a few months ago and no further update is available.

I have over 21,000 songs.

Hmm, 21000 songs is a lot so I don't think it was what I originally thought it might be. Right, back to the drawing board :)

Think I may have solved it! The fix works for me in Windows 8 so hopefully it should fix it for you too. I'll send you an email with the download link once I've run a few more tests. Don't uninstall your current installation as I'm only going to send the new part, not the whole program so leave your installation. I'll email when ready. Fingers crossed :)

For anyone who finds this group with the same issue, you can uninstall then reinstall the microphone. This fixed the issue in this case.
Other tips can be found on the Tips page.
