Kafka Support Engineer

Location: Candidate can sit in Raleigh, NC OR Roanoke, VA OR Richmond, VA

Interview Process 30 Minute Phone Screen - Candidates may be hired off of Phone Screen or may have one 2nd round video interview.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Hands-on experience delivering automated code and database deployments using leading CICD pipeline technologies in medium-to-large scale enterprise leveraging Docker/Kubernetes or similar technologies

·         Good understanding of Event-processing pipelines using Kafka, Java, Zookeeper, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, S3, Spark Streaming

·         Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support for the Kafka Cluster.

·         Hands on experience in building applications using event driven framework with Kafka.

·         Considerable experience in WebSphere MQ

·         Good programming knowledge/experience with one or more languages (ex. Java, node.js, python)

·         Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) & cloud platform technologies (Azure, GCP, Pivotal, OpenShift, etc.)

·         Comfortable performing in a fast paced, dynamic and ambiguous business environment

·         Must be able to communicate technical information clearly, able to 'translate' between diverse groups of technical and non-technical individuals

·         Ability to work in an Agile delivery team

 

EDUCATION

·         Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

 

General Comments

Contractor can work in either Richmond, Raleigh, or Roanoke offices.

One of two Kafka admin positions needed, this one being the more junior role.
