Bangabir Kader Siddiqui of Krishak Sramik Janata League on Monday urged
the Finance Minister to cancel the licenses of all mobile phone
companies and allow new companies if the existing operators did not
reduce the high call charge, reports UNB.

Participating in the budget discussion in Parliament, he also requested
the Finance Minister to fix the mobile phone call charge at 80 Paisa
per minute as in neighbouring India. "If an user on an average spend
Tk 20 a day, then the existing operators earn Tk 43,000 crore annually.
But the companies have no expense in this regard."

Siddiqui congratulated the Finance Minister for imposing a Tk. 1,200
tax on each SIM (subscriber identification module) card and suggested
more taxes on SIM card.
