It looks to me like a Super C8, that is a Celestron 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.
You can observe through it but it is intended to be used as a motorised instrument, requiring a 12 volt power supply and a handset which will control it to find objects. I think the current handsets for a Celestron C8 will probably work with it but if the internal electronics have failed then just buying a new handset will not make it work. You can find manuals online from Celestron and from other sites. You will also need eyepieces, if you don't have them already.
I think you should contact a Celestron specialist (not just a camera shop that sells them -- they probably won't have a clue) and ask if they can check whether the instrument is in working order before you get any additional parts. Or find someone who has one and see if their handset works. Or just buy one secondhand and take a chance on it.
