this is my first telescope celestron powerseeker 114eq reflector cause
i really want to view galaxies and stars. i set it up ok but i can't
get the thing to work. I can see through the focuser but when i look
through the eyepiece i can't see much at all and if i try zoom in at a
star its just a big blur also what im seeing through the focuser
doesn't seem to be the same as what i see through the eyepiece what am
i going wrong its so frustrating.

Hi,

We should be able to get you going! First, read through the help guide that I wrote for the Society for Popular Astronomy:

http://www.popastro.com/help/help.php?title_pag=Starting%20to%20Use%20Your%20Telescope

Basically, this tells you how to make sure you are using the correct (that is, lowest magnification) eyepiece to start with, how to make sure that the small finder is lined up properly, and gives some tips on focusing. It is always a good idea to begin your observing with the Moon, as this is easier to find than most stars.

Finally, it tells you how to go about checking that the telescope is actually working properly if all else fails. If, having been through all the suggestions in that article you still can't see anything, by all means come back and report progress, explaining at what point things go wrong.

Regards
