Dear TGP,

Can anyone guide me as to where can I get the number of Iphones in operation in Pakistan? Do the mobile operators keep handset related stats? When I was in Mobilink, we used to give these sort of stats to our marketing department when required (but that was a long time back).

Also, can I get information on how many computers are running the Mac OS in Pakistan? Will the ISP be having any such information? Is the OS related information transmitted when you try to access a webpage?

Any help would be greatly welcome as I need this information for a project that I am doing.

Regards,

Zarrar

This info may be transmitted in the HTTP User Agent header, but is easily spoofed as its the client sending it.

For Safari, you can get a list from http://www.useragentstring.com/pages/Safari/

An example is Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10_4_11; tr) AppleWebKit/528.4+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0dp1 Safari/526.11.2

Any help would be greatly welcome as I need this information for a project that I am doing.

Zarrar

Dear Zarrar,

What I would do is check with Shophive (for iphones), pakmac (for
apple) for the following:
- sales figures - if not actuals then monthly average.
- other dealers/competitors dealing with iphones or apples.
- get a back of the envelope estimates = sales figure x no of
competitors.

Hopes this helps, best i can come up with at the moment.
