Same here on PTCL BB. I really don't care about youtube but they should not mess with the rest of Google's services.

Using Nayatel not working either. Really annoying. Looks like we will have to move services off Google soon.

A heads up for heavy Google services dependents. It is rumored that the govt will be getting a bit stricter with foreign internet corporations.

This inaccessibility is due to cross-site Google objects that are blocked due to YouTube ban. I covered more details here: http://bit.ly/SXUln5

So is the government trying to force local development and setup of similar services :p

or Re-invent the wheel as in other cases?

PTA also issued directives to all ISP's today to resolve the issues of below mentioned Google services.
http://www.maps.google.com
http://www.docs.google.com
http://www.drive.google.com
http://www.play.google.com
https://play.google.com/store

Problem statement: Google servers across the globe are not specifically hosting only YouTube contents, but these diversified servers have variety of contents which are referred for the redirected requests on any of the Google related contents. This redirection is done dynamically based on the  architecture of Google Servers which enables dynamic allocation and distribution of contents.

Hence any of the application may refer to a number of servers to load a multi content page. Accounted for factors behind such architecture include mitigation, robustness, resiliency and faster access with least transit.

Therefore blocking any of the target application's url/domain generates the trouble that if any content which is referred to those blocked servers, will become unavailable.

And what is one supposed to tell international clients who extensively use Google Apps and other such tools for collaboration?

It's already hard enough getting international business due to our negative image. Blocking the world's most used services leaves us with nothing to offer them. It doesn't matter how developed your local tools are.

Pakistan does not follow true free market rules and no MLAT arrangements otherwise quite a lot of people and businesses would face IPR restrictions and ban of a number of scams, copycat, plagiarised, spamming and marketing businesses. Be careful about what you ask for.

Sorry to see your comments here. I can sacrifice all on the name of my beloved Mohammad PBUH. What is Google etc. We should have courage to tell our so called international clients or friends that why our Govt. took this decision. This International client will not save you upstairs.

Please let the govt do their job and you do yours. You can use any
vpn tunnel application for your collaboration tools to work. Try using hotspot shield!

Updated viber this morning on PTCL BB, KHI. Not sure when this "on / off" situation will continue.

Apart from the Android issues, PTCL browsing has gone from bad to worse in the recent days, and I literally mean browsing which does not include streaming, or downloading

Doesn't sound like a bad thing if we do. At least not for legitimate businesses. If everyone else can work with those rules, so should we.

You don't have to be sorry Uzair since we aren't talking about our love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH). There's no doubt about it. Nor is it about enabling YouTube. It's about the unrelated services that are blocked due to incompetence or negligence of the parties involved. International clients, including other Muslim brothers, are well aware of the situation.

I guess Google is playing smartly otherwise they have no issue in resolving such issue at their end. They are waiting for people of Pakistan to start discussing the losses :)
