Dear All,

Finally i have discovered the way to disable DSL connection from PTCL.
I have applied for PTCL connection in January 2008. After one week i
got order confirmation call. But after that no response from the PTCL.
I also lost the interest in the PTCL DSL connection. Then last month i
have decided to select LinkDotNet. There response was good i got the
DSL Modem by post. Then LinkDotNet told me that there is already DSL
jumper is patched by PTCL on the service number on which i have
applied the DSL connection. i was amazed why did this happened. I
called 1236 PTCL help line and they told me that you order had been
withdrawn long time ago( As i have never asked them to
withdraw..lolzzz) Anyways after lots of discussions with PTCL customer
service FINALLY they gave me the number to clear the jumper. the
number is 042-6367926. it is agerton road Exchange DSL department
number. So lahore user if they have same problem can always call on
this number and get service line cleared from DSL jumpers.

Wow it is one hell of a job to get rid the previous DSL connection.....

I have a similar story to share here, though with a twist.

Honestly speaking, the DSL connection at my place seems to be a thing of upcoming centuries. First it was link.net guys forcing me to get an connection. Which finally got withdrawn due to distance limitation from xchange. To date (almost 2.5 weeks now) I am yet to receive the refund and link.net is least bother to collect the modem they dropped in at the time of connection.

Wanting to come of of this no-internet situation at my place, i frantically applied for a new PTCL connection (this time making sure it comes via the ONU placed in my sector). Surprisingly the new connection ordered via phone was done in less than a week's time. However the very next day the new phone connection got activated the older phone went dead. It will be 1 week tomorrow since the phone line is dead.

Further to the new line, i also ordered DSL connection hoping to have it done this time pretty quickly, but to date no action has been taken and the case remains pending. I have done numerous calls to this PTCL HQ but the lady always says.. "external work done" the connection would be done soon.

I wonder when this "soon" would come.

Another news that I got in the same time period and I quote the line man of my area " We are on strike, call the helpline if you want to have your phone line restored"..

Yet another surprising fact is a call from PTCL again around 8pm last nite on my cell for my feedback on how soon I got the new connection installed at my place.. He had a nice piece of my mind on this one then.

I suppose there are more tales similar to this one in our surroundings..

Hye,

I paid LinkDot net doe DSl connection dated 28-08-08 after 2 weeks of
followups I was told DSLAM ports not available . I reverted to PTCL
they gave it back to me in 3 working days . Customer support is also
reasonable . Still modem lying with me and nobody just bothered to
call me and pay my money 1200 back. Its really hardcore customer
handling.

Regards
Hassan.

The experience is person 2 person but yes there are 3 market leaders
right now : PTCL,LinkDotNEt & Max Com and most of the people are
satisfied with these 3.

I am satisified PTCL customer and customer profile is upheld by other
2 as well but there are some areas where the DSL is not practically
possible in Karachi.People in these area go for anything regardless of
who is the provider and what is the service.
