This poll should be re-launched. I think the desktop app has seen a few updates over the past 5 months. I prefer to use the desktop app because of the tabs where I can keep it all in one place without getting confused with all me browser tabs.
Hi Robert, I have been getting the same thing today. I downloaded the Windows 64-bit version. I downloaded it this morning (say, an hour ago) from the same page you provided and clicked on the 64-bit link identified in your screenshot. And no, I am not using an interactive display at the moment: I am just using my laptop connected to a standard (noninteractive) desktop monitor.
@Nick Whiteley - I just reset the desktop app data, uninstalled it, downloaded the 64-bit version again, and am able to log in (Windows 11 laptop). The only thing I can think of is perhaps you have a touchscreen laptop and that is tripping up the app? (Due to bug, of course.)
I am using Windows 11 Enterprise (v10.0.22000 Build 22000) and it is a Dell Latitude 5530 with touchscreen. I only connect to the monitor using a HDMI cable and do not have any trouscreen capable devices in the same network.. It is really strange the problem seemed to start for no reason 2 days ago (I am a daily user of the Miro desktop for months).
Also seeing this behavior on my work system with the desktop app. I uninstalled and then reinstalled the latest version (on the Microsoft Store) and that seemed to fix it for a day, but as of this morning I am seeing the same issue again on the newly installed Miro app where external links do nothing when clicked on (but links to within the same Miro board work just fine). The same Miro board in Chrome or Firefox works as expected with external URL links.
Windows 10 Enterprise
Miro product version (from task manager): 2.1.22.0
After quite a bit of exploration and trial and error, I finally determined that you can drag and drop a URL from the Chrome address bar onto the miro desktop client (at least in Windows) in order to display the same board there. In order to be able to drag it, you must click and hold the lock icon to the left of the URL, as shown in the attached image:
I am on Windows 10 Home (2004) with the Miro 64-bit Windows desktop app and have never been able to get this to work I have also tried with the beta desktop app and the Microsoft Store version) with no luck.
As I have the desktop app installed, it would be great if the Miro link opens the board in the desktop app, while the browser page can be something simple, or still offer the option to open it in the browser.
How can I open a board in my Miro Desktop App, when that board has been shared with me for editing via a public share link and not by adding me as a team member?
(This post seems to handle a similiar issue: -list-32/open-desktop-app-from-web-browser-1357)
Edit: added correct screen shot; the one showing my board tabs was from right after the problem occurred. I have since uninstalled, installed, restarted, etc. and the second screen shot is all I have when I launch the desktop app.
Same here, on linux, using computers too laggy on windows, testing Miro because the app I used before became too heavy and slow, I am surprised this is not available on Linux and would like a desktop version if it is faster than on chromium.
Not only that the miro epg homepage slows down to the max. It is also that the miro player can not deal with the slow webpage. On my AMD E350 box (21.6 GHz) I often notice > 100% CPU load from the miro player itself and a child python process. I have moved on, deinstalled miro and now use jpodder to download the RSS feeds from the miro epg.
