Job Description:

Role Overview:
The Business Data Analyst is responsible for understanding business objectives, analyzing current processes and systems, and identifying opportunities for improvement. This role will work closely with stakeholders to document requirements, design solutions, and ensure alignment between business needs and technical capabilities. A key focus will be translating complex data-driven problems into actionable requirements and facilitating collaboration between business, product, and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze business objectives, operational procedures, and user requirements to identify problems, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or enhancement.
Conduct cost/benefit analysis of proposed solutions and recommend the most effective approach.
Document business requirements, data flows, and system functionalities, including Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, and development/QA teams to ensure clarity and alignment.
Create and maintain data-related documentation such as data dictionaries, data mapping specifications, and business requirement documents.
Design visual models, dashboards, and reports to communicate trends, performance, and project progress.
Lead data-focused meetings and workshops, gather input, and drive resolution of issues.
Proactively identify opportunities for process and system improvements.

Skills & Qualifications:

13+ years hands-on experience as a Business Data Analyst in the IT industry with strong analytical and documentation skills.
13+ years experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex business and data challenges.
10+ years experience designing and optimizing data workflows and management processes using modeling/mapping tools.
10+ years expertise in writing Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria.
8+ years experience developing data documentation (dictionaries, mappings, BRDs).
8+ years experience in creating visual data models and dashboards for communication and reporting.
8+ years experience facilitating workshops, stakeholder interviews, and issue resolution.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred: Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple data projects concurrently.
