Connects but wont create DB or tables

I am using v 5.5 with SQL 2008R2 

When I setup the instance/uid/pwd and test it connects successfully. 

But when I try to build database it just says "Initialize SQL connection..." but nothing happens.

I figured out the problem it was actually SQL server. I had to change it to Windows authentication, restart the service, reset the sa password, then change it back to mixed mode authentication. And then restarted the service again. 

It was denying mixed mode authentication for some reason.

Some kind of a bug in SQL server.
