I've been tracking developer Ubisoft Singapore's naval warfare multiplayer game, Skull and Bones, since its reveal years ago, both as a massive fan of all things pirates and someone who specifically loved the high seas action of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. I wrote Game Informer's Skull and Bones cover story back in 2022, and have played the game several times since then in previews, betas, and more.

Despite what various delays had me believing, Skull and Bones is actually shaping up to be, at the very least, a fun and competent experience. Because I've played so many of its disparate parts rather than the whole, I believe there's something really good in the game. However, without playing the full package, it's tough to say how it all comes together, a critical aspect for any live-service multiplayer game.

I'm going to dive into Season 1's offerings and some of the endgame content I experienced in this final preview, but if you'd rather watch some gameplay and hear me talk about my time playing it this time around, check out the Skull and Bones New Gameplay Today below:

In Raging Tides, players are up against the pirate kingpin Phillippe Le Peste, a master of potent African poisons. He's attracted to the region after hearing about the spoils you've captured as the area's kingpin and as such, sends skirmishers and headhunters your way to put an end to your reign. Eventually, after you take down enough of his armada, threatening his own strangle on the seas, La Peste will fight you in the La Potence World Event, which is the penultimate fight against the kingpin on the Indian Ocean. This leads to one final climactic battle against La Peste that will end the season.

La Peste uses poison attacks to keep me on the move, forcing my tank class ship to be played differently. I can't hunker down and hold a spot while throwing cannonballs, mortars, and torpedos La Peste's way. He targets not just me, but various other areas at once with a barrage of poison mortars that do damage on hit and area-of-effect damage as well. His biggest move places at least eight or so green targets on the seas and seconds later, each is hit with a powerful poison attack. My teammates, specifically our squad's healer ship, keeps a constant barrage of healing mortars firing at me, thankfully, so I'm able to withstand the worst of La Peste, but just barely.

La Peste is also fast, meaning I have to weave in and out of his poisonous barrage attacks and utilize my ship's three different sailing speeds to keep a balance between running for my life and not going so fast that I lose my maneuverability. After about five or so minutes, myself and the other five pirates helping take down La Peste, ending this world event. It's a great time, and I hope other boss-like fights feature similar variations on the Skull and Bones formula.

Elsewhere in Season 1, players can expect a Smuggle Pass, which is Ubisoft's take on the battle pass for Skull and Bones. The pass lets players gain access to a special ship, the Barque, and themed equipment perfect for fighting La Peste. Plus, you can unlock La Potence schematics, which Ubisoft says is essential for taking on the season's kingpin. The ship, themed equipment, and schematics are free, but you can also upgrade the Smuggle Pass for a paid, premium experience, too, for even more seasonal offerings.

In Season 2: Chorus of Havoc, the Hubac twins from the power-hungry Compagnie Royale decide to invade the Indian Ocean, putting your status of Kingpin pirate on the line once more. Sent by the king of France, the Twins will make their presence known with stronger forts and stronger defenses throughout the region, presenting new opportunities for action and challenges, too.

The final piece of the Skull and Bones endgame puzzle I want to touch on are Hostile Takeover and Legendary Heist events. In the former, you must stay in a designated zone and destroy ships, buildings, and fortresses, and ultimately, cause as much damage as possible. The more damage you do without leaving the designated zone, the better your performance. I enjoy this challenge as it forces me to stay right up in the action, removing my ability to sail away to safety for a breather.

Overall, I quite enjoyed my time sailing through Skull and Bones' Season 1 endgame content. It's still tough to say how the entire experience melds together, and I'm still not fully sold on a game where I play primarily as the ship and not a pirate, but if my various hands-on opportunities have proven anything, it's that Skull and Bones is better than I expect so far and worth checking out in its final form.

As part of the new expansion you'll unlock access to Vampiric Powers, but to wield them you'll need Potent Blood. This is acquired from fallen adversaries, and can be spent in the Vampiric Powers tab within the Character menu to unlock a random power or power upgrade. Vampiric Powers can also be unlocked by completing the Seasonal Questline and from the Blood Harvest Seasonal Event.

The highest chance for receiving Potent Blood and Pact Armor is within the Blood Harvest Seasonal Event. Completing Bounties, killing Blood Blisters, completing World Events, disturbing vampiric rituals, and freeing prisoners will all earn you some Reputation that accumulates as you climb Tiers and unlock useful rewards. These include (but are not limited to):

You can also acquire Blood Lures, which summon Blood Seekers for you to defeat. You can also use any Seeker Keys you find to free prisoners of the Dark Master's army or on Seekers Caches to receive Pact Armor, Pact Consumables, and Potent Blood.

A new pinnacle dungeon will be available on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, called the Abattoir of Zir. This is an endgame pinnacle dungeon that offers a new, terrifying challenge. You must defeat the servants of Zir within ten minutes in order to beat this pinnacle dungeon. The catch is, each time you complete the time trial, a new challenge is added to the mix.

In order to encounter Grigoire, you must gather enough Living Steel from the Tortured Offering in Helltide. In addition to Unique items that can only drop from Grigoire, you also have a chance to receive the Demonbinder Mount Armor Cosmetic.

In order to encounter the Beast in the Ice, you must gather Distilled Fear while completing Tier 30 or higher Nightmare Dungeons. After you have enough, visit the Occultist and craft the Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil, activate it, and the fight can begin. You can gain the Skull Torch and Fell Steed Mount Trophies from this boss, in addition to other unique items.

In order to encounter the Echo of Duriel, you must defeat both Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint and Varshan in World Tier IV to collect Mucus-Slick Eggs and Shards of Agony. Once you have enough, you'll be able to summon the boss. Duriel is the only boss out of these additions who has a chance to drop Uber Unique items, alongside items like the Brimstone Mount.

The calculations assume that the player has collected all Series 3 cards, completed every quest to get all the seasonal track rewards, and reached at least rank 90. The rewards for reaching lower ranks are not as generous, so the numbers will be slightly different.

The good news is that the developers have accurately calculated the amount of experience players receive. An active player does not need to worry about reaching level 50 of the season pass by the end of the month; even without taking into account the experience from games, there is enough to get to level 50.

As a result of all the calculations, we have a lot of numbers to think about. I think everyone will draw their own conclusions based on the calculations carried out, and I would like to see what you think in the comments!

Make the unwanted unique items useful. let us exchange them for random unique items with more lp.
For example,
5 same type 0 lp items => 1 random same type 1 lp item.
4 same type 1 lp items => 1 random same type 2 lp item.
3 same type 2 lp items => 1 random same type 3 lp item.
4 lp items can only be dropped in 400+ corruption monolith.
This way, whenever a unique drops, we at least could have a little excitement to pick it up or a sense of working toward something. We would still have a reason to push higher corruption if we want to reach perfection

So if you are already at high amounts of Corruption try preparing a well developed echo web without resetting it constantly. You can already cut down the amount of echoes needed to complete to unlock the boss massively. By a margin of 2-4 less echoes required. On well developed timelines we are already talking about 5-10 echoes to unlock the boss.

Yes, the in-echo experience needs some more spice.
But the monolith system as a whole is the most solid endgame system of any endgame systems IMO. You can already see how adaptable and modular it is designed. The devs have unlimited possibilities to expand on this system.

Anyway, the point is to have some incentive to pick up those 0 or 1 lp unique items on the ground and get some tiny dopamine when they drop. How much incentive is there if you can only exchange 0 lp for 0 lp? Why not just farm rune of ascendance?

Diablo 4 Season 3 is well underway, and with the increased experience gains that were added a few months ago, a lot of players have already found themselves in World Tier 4. While Season of the Construct does add a few new activities, like the Vault Dungeons and Arcane Tremors, they will not reward you with anything remotely close to what the endgame bosses of the game can. Players will be able to farm 6 different bosses this season, each with its unique loot table, allowing them to target-farm specific items to progress their characters. In this article, we are going to provide you with the full list of loot tables of every endgame boss in Diablo 4 Season 3:
