Before you ask, yes SASD does work but need to get VSOM to work. When loading Windows 10 new edge browser everything looks great, even has the gold border around the view window but when you try to view a camera it pops up the following error.
When opening VSOM in Windows 10 IE 11, it's like a normal first time load where it wants to install the client but it tries to load the Cisco Multi-Pane Video Surveillance Client 32 bit - 7.6.29 even though the computer is using 64 bit. Trying to continue the install it fails and just says the installation is not yet complete. Are you sure you want to exit?... Select No and looks like it tries to install but then fails again with the pop up... "Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\Cisco Multi-Pane Video Surveillance Client 32 bit\vsmc70Rt.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024714. Contact your support personnel. Then if you try to continue several other.dll files fail and ultimately just gives an error: Invalid parameter: MPClientXML pointer is null in createView.
Great news... I got VSOM to work in Windows 10. Not sure if it was a fluke as I was tweaking every possible setting I could think of but low and behold I got it to work and it's fast and have the 17 view options which is only possible in a 64 bit environment.
Under the Advanced tab in the Security section I have checked... Enable 64-bit processes for Enhanced Protected Mode but surprisingly NOT checked is Enable Enhanced Protected Mode which from everthing I read said it had to be. To verify if this makes a difference I checked to Enable it and it does affect the ability to view the cameras. It will display a warning, "This webpage wants to run 'Cisco Javascript Bridge Class' which isn't compatible with Internet Explorer's enhanced security features. If you trust this site, you can disable Enhanced Protected Mode for this site and allow the control to run. If you (Click on Run Control) it will revert the browser back to a 32-bit tab and just have a while window saying Invalid parameter: MPClientXML pointer is null in updateSource. Go back into Internet Options and UNCHECK Enable Enhanced Protected Mode. I did verify that after making that change, I am able to successful view the cameras. (YEAH!!!)
If you also want to get rid of the Certificate error when loading VSOM, in the Internet Options, on the Advanced tab also uncheck Warn about certificate adress mismatch and then on the address bar while it's red warning about the certicate error. Then when you open VSOM in the browser, click on the certificate shield and click on view certificates, then install certificate then next, choose place all certificates in the following store, choose browse, then select Trusted Root Certifcation Authorities, then OK and next then Finish. When the security warning comes up, select Yes to install this certificate and then OK on the import was successful. Next time you open VSOM you won't have the certicate warning.
If you're using Synology Surveillance Station with security cameras that use H.265 and/or AAC encoding and are running Linux, you might have run into the issue of not being able to actually view your camera feeds in the Surveillance Station web view. Even if you have configured your browser to fully support these codecs, Synology's web view just won't let you see them.
Instead you are told to download their desktop app which, of course, is only available for Windows. Fortunately we have access to fantastic tools these days that let us fix these kinds of situations. We'll be using Bottles to install and use the Synology Surveillance Station Client application.
With DSM 7.0 onward, Synology changed the way these codecs are being handled, likely due to them changing the way they want to pay for licenses for these codecs. So if your cameras use either or both of these codecs, we have to make sure they are enabled first.
In case you're not familiar with the bottles concept, each application (or game) you wish to use is installed in its own section, away from whatever other applications you might want to install. This way you can ensure each of these applications has the exact prerequisites it needs, without them potentially conflicting with other applications' specific requirements.
Now with this new bottle created, click on it in the list and you'll be greeted with a sidebar showing several sections. Head on over to the Preferences section first, and disable the Use DXVK option. This is key, as the client application will otherwise fail to start correctly.
Now head back to the Details & Utilities section, and click the Run Executable button. A browse modal will show up. Use this to find the Surveillance Station Installation file you have downloaded previously. Make sure that it's the installer (the .exe version), not the "portable" variant.
The next time you want to launch this application, just start up Bottles, select the Synology bottle you have just created. There should now be a new option called Synology Surveillance Station Client under the Programs header. Click the play button on it's right hand-side, and the app will launch straight away.
It's a bit unfortunate that we can't just use the web version, but at least it's fairly straight-forward to install and use the desktop application using wonderful tools like Bottles, and underlying technologies like WINE that make it all possible.
I started using surveillance station based off the recommendations here. The couple I deployed thus far just watch the feed on a computer or phone when desired. However, I have a guy that keeps his cameras always on a TV. What super bare essential hardware are you guys using just to show 4 cameras on a TV?
I use wine on my debian 12 install. Sometimes it is difficult! The mouse cursor is never dead on! But I does do anything I need.
I have a sony tv, Android. Using Tinycam Pro. I have 7 cameras on 65" tv. I have it set up to show 4 displays at a time.
Additionally, the offsite DR video storage solution needed to align with customer-site video processing and analysis workflows. A single customer might have hundreds of cameras. The offsite video file management system had to consider such parameters to enable efficient location, viewing, and restoration of video files.
The Wasabi Account Control Manager (WACM) keeps admin costs down by giving Visium Networks a simple way to allocate storage capacity to its customers, manage users, and assign storage admin roles for each account.
Wasabi Surveillance Cloud allows Visium Networks to make its customers compliant with new video disaster recovery regulations. Visium Networks can now deliver a DR video solution that features 24/7, 99.999% uptime. The solution is both easy and efficient to manage.
The service is also consistently priced. Customers never get a surprise bill for accessing archived video material. Working this way removes some challenges Visium Networks faced in selling the solution to its customers. The video data in question will rarely be accessed, so if the solution is perceived as costly or cumbersome to deal with, in financial terms, that would be an obstacle to selling it. With Wasabi, Visium Networks does not have to worry about this problem.
Visium Networks is poised to offer the Wasabi-based offsite DR solution to more clients who seek regulation-compliant solutions. And, as the rules change to require 90-day offsite storage, Visium Networks will likely adapt the solution to meet this criterion.
