do you offer access to Netflix in your listing? If so do you use your own account? Pay for another account? Make them sign in with THEIR account? I have a Netflix account myself and a ROKU I can hook up -- I just today got my first inquiry about Netflix in the unit. I'm wondering how others do it.

I have an additional device account, one for guests. If a guest doesn't have their own account, they can request me to set up access to ours as a guest viewer. Although after 2 years and many bookings, I have had only 2 requests for me to set them up. Most have their own account these days.

We have a guest account for Netflix and Hulu and an old iPhone with nothing else on it signed in for guests to cast to the tv, via google chrome-cast. Old fashioned but does the job at low cost. (We have no tv service.)

Hi Emilia, I'll just be starting to offer Netflix for my guest this coming month and thinking of the same set-up as yours (guest will have access to my account, but with a different user profile). I'd like to ask if you had any instances where your guests have messed with the other profiles on your Netflix account. If yes, what did you do? Or if not, what have you done to prevent this.

@Jose-Feliciano0, just this week I noticed the Grinch was watched on my specific Netflix profile and there were two young children staying in one of my Airbnbs at that time. It doesn't bother me and doesn't happen often. No one has ever messed with my settings or anything like that. I would say it is more frustrating when they log out of my account and into their own. I have to check every time I am turning over the space for a new guest that Netflix is correctly logged into the right account. I would never give my password to a guest so if they get logged out it would require me going over to the apartment to log them back in (luckily, no one has asked me to do that.)

Hi Jose, So I'm a little behind on this thread & I've been looking into all this stuff with Netflix & if you offer up your own account could the guest potentially mess with the other accounts on it. Anyway, their is a way you can lock your other profiles so they would only have access to the one you want them to have..

I have a "guest profile" for Netflix/Hulu/Amazon but it is still my account. The account requires a password to be modified in any way, including ordering movies that are not included in the subscription so there's no way guests could change or charge anything.

The only issue I had once was someone signed in on their own account, then messaged me claiming that someone was watching stuff on their account after they checked out. We didn't have any guests during the time they claimed this was happening and we had logged them out anyways, so I think they had left their account logged in elsewhere.

@Kelly1126 I have the Netflix account that allows for streaming on 4 devices at once. I just leave the account signed in. Same with Amazon: I'm actually not sure how many people can log in at once, but there has never been a conflict, maybe because Amazon Prime is pretty poor in Canada and there isn't much to watch. Some people choose to use their own account, but I do provide mine also so they can use it if they want.

We have Smart TVs and/or Roku's so that guests can access their own accounts. We remind them to sign out when they leave. We've also been using YouTubeTV instead of cable TV in some properties. So far, so good. The savings are great. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I recently bought a Samsung UHD TV Smart TV and am using Yamaha receiver with 5.1 surround.
I had to install the optical cable from TV to Yamaha receiver and then set your receiver to
Audio-1 so you can then hear Netflix ! Good Luck

I cannot get any sound through my receiver when using netflix app from my samsung un55f6300. I am using ARC HDMI input and I tried an optical cable to the receiver. Do I need to change any settings on the tv, app or stereo? If anyone can help let me know. My receiver is a denon X400

Great article Eric, I learned a lot, and it was very clear. Method 2 works for me, but I tried method 4 with the ARC capability (tv, receiver, and hdmi cable have the capability), I activated ARC on both the tv and the receiver through the set up menus, kept my receiver on the hdmi channel, and it does not work: I still get the sound from the directv, with the image of the tv app (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) I have no idea why this does not work ?

Also, for other components (cable box, media player and blu ray player), I have a conventional setup where the components are connected to the receiver via HDMI and one HDMI cable goes from the receiver to the video in of the TV. This works well and I want to keep it the same way while being able to do the items above (Netflix and Chromecase on surround sound).

Eric, Is there any problem in using both an HDMI and a digital optical cable to get sound? How does the TV know which cable to use as sound? it seems it is the only way to get sound from my smart TV Apps and my Satellite TV to work on my surround sound. Both are wanting to use the ARC input on the receiver but I only have one ARC input on my receiver. I have a Samsung 7150 smart TV.

My new Samsung Smart TV is connected via HDMI/ARC to my AV Pioneer receiver. The TV can turn ON/OFF the receiver, and the TV can steer the receivers volume.
Problem is, that after turning both products off via the TV remote control, the receiver is turned on by itself the next day!
How is that possible?

Very helpful article. My TV has the HDMI/Arc input which I have connected from TV to cable box. I have digital optical from receiver to cable box. What do I need to do to get sound out of my surround system for the Smart apps. Little confused here.

Thanks alot for the info its simple n straight forward helped me save the hassle of connecting optical cable unnessarily to my first home theatre system denon awr-2200 and tannoy tfx 5.1 + uhd48 samsung tv..

I bought new lg tv version 55uh850t in jan 17. And i have bose home theatre 520 soundtouch system. Now the problem is when i share any video to my tv the sound does not come from my home theatre but when i switch to internal speaker of tv then sound is coming from tv. I have already connected a hdmi cable from tv(arc) to home theatre. But when i am using optical cable then sound is coming through my home theatre. This is the problem with only mobile sharing video to tv. Not with other connection. All are working fine. Pls give me a solution.

Thank you! New Samsung smart TV and relatively new receiver that both had ARC! This solved our app audio issue (we had the tv hdmi in the wrong port) Samsung support was no help, so glad I found your article or tv may have been thrown out the window.

I have ARC input and outputs but can still not get surround sound while watching streaming channels. Receiver was returned and all there tests indicate it was fine, fully operational. Got high speed HMDI cable still no solution. The surround sound works for DVD and cable stations but not for streaming channels, someone say changing settings in the streaming channels. Need help.

This article is fantastic, I could connect my Yamaha RX-V477 to my TV Samsung Q60-R using HDMI ARC cable and ports, therefore my streaming TV services can feed my AV Receiver with Dolby surround sound!!! But it has a trick, you need to try many HDMI cables as possible, the first one was not working as ARC for me, and this is not specified in the cable (ARC compatible or not). I live in Brazil.

Oh, and for iPhone 15 peoples, the existing two-years free applies. Meaning that on the whole, Apple has deferred this potential-payment-problem decision till 2025. These days, the feature is available in the following countries, for both iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users.

The core difference with an app like RideWithGPS is that it also has sensor support (even Garmin Varia radar integration), as well as uploads to all the various 3rd party platforms like a head unit (whereas Google Maps will most definitely not upload to Strava).

Two Things:
1-I like the PeakDesign phone holder on the handle bars, good choice!
2-I wish Peloton would allow none Peloton bikes to connect to their system, specifically for their scenic rides. I like to do those rides from time-to-time, but I am not a fan of the bike itself as I prefer to ride my Cannondale on my Wahoo.

Most other communicators (EPIRB/PLB, 911 call on a cell phone) will pass through an emergency call without any other charges, so long as the device functions. I think where Garmin and others in the satellite device arena are making their money is non-emergency check-ins and tracking, as well as messaging, rather than on a cost per emergency call.

I doubt it will ever happen, but it would be interesting if NordicTrack finally feels enough pressure to add Netflix to its platform after years of users having to use all kinds of workarounds to get it working.

Hi Ray, on my peloton bike+ (UK based) I only see the Disney App in the Beta Entertainment function. Is there a way of getting access to more providers or is all pushed depending on your country etc? There is the netflix app hidden away in the Apps area but there is no ride data displayed in a sidebar so pretty useless. Anyone else had similar experiences?
