I'm using TeamViewer on a desktop to remote control into another desktop, and it was working fine before, but recently I started to have a problem that the interface is always stuck at the "Initializing display parameters" prompt, so I can't use it normally. What should I do? Please help me.

I encounter this issue whenever a user at the remote site is logged into the same PC using remote desktop. This is big problem that needs to be addressed because in some cases the remote PC is located in a server area that is not normally physically accessed by persons who regularly use the PC.

This matches my experience and problem. I use RemoteDesktop when on the same LAN as the PC, but TeamViewer when offsite. Also, not sure it matters, but host PC is running on a HyperV VM, so it's using virtual audio and video devices.

Usually connection is fine (except audio NEVER works), but if someone left a Remote Desktop connection active while working onsite, then the system is inaccessible to TeamViewer with no apparent solution until someone is back onsite to turn off the Remote Desktop. This pretty much defeats the purpose of being able to log in remotely to troubleshoot a problem or do work in a pinch from the road.

I am having this problem as well. Remote from teamviewer downloaded on my laptop or my droid to my home pc just hangs on intializing display perameters. But heres the kicker. If I use the website interface on my laptop I can connect to my home pc so I know it works just not from app to app. I need to use the website. Need some advice please as this is not going to work long term.

It has something to do with RDP, because I CAN connect when I'm connected via RDP (but TV won't let me do anything due to active RDP session). When I close the RDP session TV just hangs on "initializing display parameters" when I try to connect. I'll try to reboot the machine later I guess, but all worked flawlessly until I tried using RDP.

What this means is, if you connect to a machine via rdp, then do not log off, just end the session, or minimize the rdp session, you will not be able to access your remote machine via teamviewer, you'll have to rdp into the machine again so the display is up, then teamview into it.

Teamviewer only connects when a monitor is attached and display is on, so to say screensaver or power save are the cause. As soon one uses the system, it wakes up, and so the display, and teamviewer does work again.

I tried enabling the "Enable black screen option in the settings on the teamviewer "server", but when I did that the client couldn't even connect - it got stuck on "Initializing display parameters" forever.

I have it finally working on my computer. The issue is pretty simple and a complete embarrassment or lack of technical skills on TeamViewer's point. The driver is not "digitally signed" with a correct date so Windows rejects it. If you go into your BIOS and allow drivers once to be approved without signature then the TeamViewer black screen works correctly. Just search in google for

The problem is with the NVIDIA drivers. Some further research seems to suggest that the problem occurs in the latest handfull of versions. I've not got the details of that, and I don't find it very relevant as TW doesn't seem to prioritize the issue.

I can receive an incoming connection with TeamViewer (someone can dial into me), I can then swap sides and see their screen, But I cannot instigate a remote connection to another machine in the first place
Bottom left-hand corner of TeamViewer first states "Connection to Partner" then "Connecting..." but does not continue onto the Password dialog
I have already opened ports 5938, 443 & 80 in my Firewall's Outbound Rules. I have given Teamviewer.exe write via the firewall. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, I am currently trying the latest inside build, but the issue exists with both released & insider. I have switched off IPV6
The software has historically worked perfectly, but in the last 'few' months, connection issues have started

Is there something at Sky's end that would affect TeamViewer?
Anyone got any ideas where I can go from here?

I have the same issue. If i try and connect to any end users with a sky connection, it gets to the password but after that it just hangs on "initializing display settings". If they use another internet connection it works fine so its definitely sky but I cant find out why as neither teamviewer nor sky seem to have this identified as an issue and both are very popular. I have tried all sorts of other combinations of connecting and they all work except when sky is the ISP on the receiving end. Weirdly if they try and install another remote program, when the UAC pops up, teamviewer bursts into life but then drops after credentials have be input. Very weird and very annoying. Any ideas anyone ?

I have discovered that when running WireGuard ( needed to connect to the office ) TeamViewer fails to connect ( doesn't get to the Password screen ) but with WireGuard deactivated, TeamViewer works as expected

IPV6 was switched off ( remember, TeamViewer has worked quite happily for months ), switching it back on seems to fix issue. WireGuard ( for unknown to me, technical reasons ) only works over IPV4 & switches of IPV6

If I use a mobile hotspot on Work phone ( Vodaphone ) or on personal phone ( Sky ) TeamViewer works quite happily ( albeit slow ) on my Laptop

When connected to my normal Wi-Fi via my Sky router, it WireGuard is on, TeamViewer doesn't connect

I believe it boils down to a combination of WireGuard being IPV4, TeamViewer ( preferring?) IPV6 and Sky possibly changing something on the router ( out of my control )

I think I know what it could be, if your using windows 10-11, it leaks dns when wireguard is enabled on a router, or if you use windows new wireguard. You have to edit your pc setting adding a ipv4 DNS manual even 1.1.1.1 will do also disable ipv6.

TeamViewer is a software program that establishes connections between your computer (at your home or office) and any other PC all around the world within just a few seconds. You can remotely control your friend's or partner's PC as if you were sitting right in front of it.

Open Synaptic, click on Search. Type Teamviewer in the search box and click on the search button. Mark Teamviewer for installation then click the "Apply" and "Apply" again and wait for it to be installed on your system. Yes, It is really that easy.

This is the window that you will use when connecting to a remote user's machine. The screen is divided into two main sections. On the right side will be the client's (remote) machine, and on the left side will be the local machine. Which side of the window you need to be using will depend on who is helping whom.

Let's say that "Slick Willie" has asked me to help him on his machine. Slick Willie lives across town, country, or on the other side of this great planet. Because it is not always convenient to drop everything, hop in the car/plane/boat and go to his place, I suggest that we use Teamviewer and take care of his problem.

Let's not forget that in order to use Teamviewer to help Slick Willie, both Slick Willie and I have to be running Teamviewer. If Slick Willie was running that other OS, commonly named after a glass product, then he should head over to _Setup_en-ckj.exe and download it for himself. Teamviewer runs on Linux, Mac, Windows and mobile devices Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 8. Lucky for us, Slick Willie is using our favorite Linux Distro.

For us to log into someone else's system, we have to get some information from them. We will need their ID and Password from the left side of the Teamviewer window. Once we have received this information, we can set to work getting our person of need some help. In the case of Slick Willie, his ID 924 627 759 and his Password 8796. Now we can get him the help he needs. We want to put his ID number into the right side of the Teamviewer window where it says Partner ID,

and then click the blue "Connect to partner" button. After trying to connect to his machine, it will open a password dialog box. Now type in the password he gave you and press "log on". After a few moments you should be greeted with a remote desktop display.

What we have done is this brief article is a very small sample of what Teamviewer can do, straight out of the box with no tweaking or fiddling around. Some places to get additional help with Teamviewer are;

Misc Information: It appears that many Teamviewer users are having issues when running Teamviewer 9 hanging at the initializing display parameters screen. This appears to be a Teamviewer bug. I also had one of my many machines hang at the "initializing display parameters" window. My solution was to simply revert that machine back to Teamviewer 8. After that, it worked like it should have. YMMV

Special Note: You can download a copy of the PCLinuxOS Teamviewer 8 rpm at archives.pclosusers.com/teamviewer8-8.0.17147-4pclos2013.i586.rpm. Remember that is is an older 32 bit version of Teamviewer that is no longer being supported by the PCLinuxOS developers. Please do not ask them for help if you decide to use this version.
