Never respond to email asking you to provide account information. UM will never ask you for personal information by email. If you think you have provided your password by email, contact the IT help desk immediately.

To change your password, please enter your current username and password along with your desired new password below and press Change Password. Please note the requirements for your password. If you have forgotten your password, you can use the link below to reset it.

You can use your mobile or desktop device to reset your NCID password or unlock your NCID account at any time. Please note, however, that all NCID accounts that are locked automatically unlock after 30 minutes.

An accurate and up-to-date email address, and/or phone number ensure you never lose access to your X account. There are a few ways to change your password, and keeping this information up to date simplifies resetting your account or password.

Note: Resetting your password will log you out of all your active X sessions. Additionally, password reset via text message isn't available to accounts that are enrolled in login verification. You can only reset your password through email.

If you frequently receive password reset messages that you did not request, it may be a good idea to turn on the Password reset protection in your account settings and set up two-factor authentication.

The password reset system will only work if you have previously added a cell phone number, email address, or both into the MyPortal Communication Preferences (If you are not logged in you will be required to do so before accessing the Communication Preferences form). After updating your contact information in Communication Preferences, you will need to wait 30 minutes before trying to reset your password.

Select the first option if you forgot your password, and you will be provided options to reset your password by using information (email or phone number) you provided in MyPortal. If you have not provided additional contact information, then you will need to contact the Help Desk between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Select the second option if you know your password, but you tried incorrect options too many times. Your account is now locked and you need to unlock it. The steps to unlock your account are nearly the same as to reset your password.

The email or phone number used to send the verification code is determined by the information you provided in MyPortal in the Communication Settings. If using the text or call option, you will need to enter the phone number you supplied in the Communication Settings. See hint to know which number.

Important: Before changing password, collect and have nearby any mobile devices currently enrolled in Intelligent Hub (AirWatch) as well as laptops/desktops you use to access the Mednet network.

After changing password, immediately enter your new password/passphrase when prompted on your mobile device(s). For your laptop/desktop, log out and then log back in with your new password/passphrase. If you're on VPN, follow these step-by-step instructions

Your Mednet password is used across all services/technology provided to you by UCLA Health IT such as CareConnect, all Mednet email domains, managed laptops/desktops, VPN, and timesheets, and many more! Be sure to avoid lockouts and review the instructions provided

When changing a password on VPN (Global Protect) or offsite (off any UCLA Health Network), a Mednet user must lock their computer with an active VPN connection and log back in with their new credentials. If this step is not performed you may experience password related issues on your workstation when logging in.

StarID password changes may take longer than usual to sync, affecting sign-in to Microsoft Office 365 and campus services. There is no need to change your password again if it does not sync immediately. Thank you for your patience at this busy time.

I've got myself into a bit of a pickle and could really use your collective wisdom. I've been locked out of my Windows 10 computer (yeah, I know, should've written down the password) and I'm scratching my head on how to get back in. Has anyone here been through this and managed to reset their password without being able to log in?

I've seen a few methods online involving bootable USB drives and using command prompts, but I'm not super tech-savvy and a bit hesitant to dive into something that seems so complex. I'm looking for a more straightforward, beginner-friendly way to reset my password and get back to my files.

Once, I also encountered a situation where I forgot Windows 10 password of local account. I was really a little panicked at that time. After all, all the important files were in that account. I remember that I really didn't want to use those complicated technical means at that time, and wondered if there was a simple way to solve it.

So, I saw a "Reset Password" link on the login screen. Although I hadn't noticed it before, I decided to click it this time. After clicking it, the system prompted me to answer the security questions I had set before. I was quite glad that I didn't fill in some random answers at that time. The question was the name of my elementary school. I remembered that I set the name of my alma mater and answered it without hesitation. Then the system actually let me enter the interface for setting a new password.

After entering and confirming the new password, I was able to log in smoothly. This experience made me realize that setting security questions is really useful, especially when you forget Windows 10 password.

@zcbadeedee Ophcrack is not recommended if the password was strong enough. Ophcrack relies on rainbow tables to recover the forgotten Windows 10 passwords. These tables are precomputed lists of possible passwords and their corresponding hashes. If a password is complex (long, uses special characters, or is otherwise not common), it may not be included in the available rainbow tables.

In addition, Ophcrack has not been actively updated to handle newer hashing algorithms or security measures implemented in Windows 10 and 11. Newer versions of Windows have strengthened password security. So it is no longer a good choice to reset Windows 10 password when the computer is locked due to forgotten password.

Phone number not linked to account

If you haven't added a phone number to your account, you'll need to reset your password by email. After signing in, you can add a phone number at any time by going to your Account page and selecting Add phone number. If the phone number on your account is no longer valid, go to your Account page and select Change phone number.
