We have been invited to participate in the Patrick Ranch Threshing
Been and Country Fair June 7th and 8th. Are you interested? It is
over a month away but it is located Chico. I have already sent them a
bunch of questions that I want to get answered before we commit but I
thought I would get your input up front. Here is the information I
have been able to get so far.
The theme of the show is “The Heritage and Bounty of the Northern
Sacramento Valley” and your work should represent our valley’s many
agricultural assets, ie…crops, historic architecture, landscapes,
weather, etc.
Patrick Ranch Threshing Bee & Country Faire, June 7-8
The 7th Annual Country Faire featuring the 7th Annual Threshing Bee
will be held on June 7th and 8th, at the Patrick Ranch on the Midway,
located half way between Chico and Durham. Gates will be open
Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm. This is a $5.00 per person
entrance fee. However, children 14 and under are Free when
accompanied by an Adult. There are no advance ticket sales. The
Country Faire is a Far West Heritage Association sponsored event. The
event kick off is the Country Supper on Friday Night June 6th,
starting at 5:30pm. Tickets to the Country Supper are available on
line at

While there will be no actual ticket given out, each person age 15
years and older will be charged $5.00 for admittance. All children
14years and younger will be admitted free if accompanied by an adult
because The Far West Heritage Association wants this to be a family
event. The entrance gate to the Patrick Ranch is located at 10381
Midway.
There is free, and there is ample parking on the grounds of the
Patrick Ranch. NO PARKING IS ALLOWED ON THE SIDE OF THE MIDWAY, OR IN
ADJECENT ORCHARDS.
Free Trolley Rides from Chico Transit Center to the Patrick Ranch A
vintage trolley, part of the B Line Transit System will leave the the
Chico Transit Center at 2nd and Salem Streets on the Hour and go to
the Patrick Ranch. It will return on the Half Hour from the Patrick
Ranch and drop people at the Chico Transit Center
COUNTRY FAIRE HIGHLIGHTS
Threshing Bee
The 7th Annual Threshing Bee is the main event at the Country Faire.
It is a combined effort of the Vintage Iron Club, California Draft
Horse and Mule Association and the Far West Heritage Association.
Easily the biggest draw of viewers because of all of the activity, it
will begin each day at 9am and run until 11am. Each morning, and at
2:30pm to 4:pm each afternoon. Tractors and the Horses will take
turns pulling the equipment that will do the mowing/binding/bundling
and loading. That will be followed by the Wheat threshing and
baling.
Since the horses will be available, there will also be demonstrations
of Horseshoeing, and people are encouraged to arrive early and watch
the horses being harnessed.
Also associated with the Threshing Bee will be the Horse and Tractor
Parade, which will be nariated to the viewing audience so you will
come away with knowledge of the types of horses at the show, and the
kinds of tractors and equipment that each uses.
Old Fashioned Country Faire
The Country Faire will be and Old Fashioned Country fair will have
many activities such as Pioneer Crafts Interactive Exhibits, Antique
Transportation Exhibits, Old Time Youth Games, a Live Bee Beard
Demonstration, Craft Booths, Artisian Fair Mansion Tours, an Antique
Quilt Exhibit in the Mansion, a Mechoopda Experience for children,
Children Craft Activities, Pioneer Crafts Interactive Exhibits, Pony
Rides, a Children’s Peddle Tractor Activity, a Petting Zoo, Children’s
Farm Sand Box, Museum Booth, Live Music, Tram Rides, Old Time Youth
Games, Bee Exhibit, Sheep Dog Demonstration, Biscuit Making, Patrick
Ranch Store, Beer and Wine Tasting.
The non-profit Patrick Ranch is a Far West Heritage Association
facility that is funded primarily by membership, events income,
grants, contributions from foundations and sponsors.
