Hi all,

We're aiming to continue announcing presenters each Thursday, and I'm SO PLEASED to be promoting Colin Beavan (of the No Impact Project) and Dr. Gary Wynn this week!  Thanks to the all those who helped recruit/is helping confirm these speakers for our inaugural event!

Also, thanks again to everyone who helped spread the word last week -- we've broken the 400 mark for people interested in tickets, which will be available for a moderate price in April (we've updated the website with this language, too, and will keep everyone posted as to when registration is actually open).

Please continue helping to promote our event, and feel free to use the following language about this round of speakers: We've got the No Impact Project's Colin Beavan and leading psychiatrist Dr. Gary Wynn speaking @tedxpotomac in May! http://bit.ly/aN2ITv

Have a great day!
Steph

Hey TEDxPotomac Team!

Will TEDxPotomac organizers be allotted a certain number of pre-sale tickets for their guests?  Or be able to secure a certain number of tickets in general?  Thanks!

Cheers,
Vick

Sorry I missed the Thursday announcement round - tweeting momentarily
(I do have almost 2500 followers - been on twitter over three years (I
can't believe it either).

Do you have any longer language to use in emails to friends,
supporters potential speakers/sponsors/interested parties, etc.? Just
like a more detailed good intro to TEDxPotomac? Something like the
first press release, or is there another one of those with more
speakers (or is it updated whenever there is a new speaker?)

I was just looking for some quick language to drop into emails,
because I have a long and growing list I need to get out today. I can
cobble something together if not.

Thanks!
Paul

Hi Paul,

Great question!  On my to-do list this week was to create some updated language to send out to our interested-in-tickets list of people, so your email just put a little more fire under my feet to get it done.  Thanks!

Feel free to use any of the language from the website or the prose copied below.

Thanks again!
Steph

**************

TED (http://www.ted.com) started more than 25 years ago as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Since then, its scope has broadened to include thinkers, doers, creators, and visionaries from all walks of life -- and on Thursday, May 20, 2010, we will be hosting a local version known as TEDxPotomac (http://www.tedxpotomac.com).

The inaugural TEDxPotomac will bring together more than 400 people at the Dorothy Betts Marvin Center on George Washington University's Campus in downtown DC.  True to its theme of “"Beyond Politics: Innovation, Inspiration, and Insight,"” the event will highlight nearly 20 diverse, thought-provoking presenters connected to the DC region who energize, entertain, and enlighten. Confirmed speakers who have been announced so far include:

* Colin Beavan, creator of the No Impact Project (http://www.noimpactproject.org),

* Warren Brown, founder and owner of CakeLove (http://www.cakelove.com),

* Frances Moore Lappé, author of Diet for a Small Planet and founder of The Small Planet Institute (http://www.smallplanet.org),

* Craig Newmark, founder of Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org), and

* Dr. Gary Wynn, leading psychiatrist and authority on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Tickets will be available for a moderate price beginning in April, so be sure to submit your email address if you'd like to be notified of registration opening.  You can also stay tuned to future announcements by following @TEDxPotomac on Twitter.
