some good new for everyone. I called the county tax office this morning.
- you do NOT need a Tax ID number
- you register on line for a bidders number and when you go to the auction the onnly ID you need is your drivers licence.
- you only need one Tax Statement Form and That is filled out when you actually buy the TAx Deed and go across the street to register. That form is part of the registration of the deed process ($10 fee for each property being registered) the cost of the Notary is included andt hey have a Notary Officer in their office who will sign at time of property DeeD registration.
- Adjusted Value of property is the market value less any improvemente that may be required and as noted bythe County's adjuster when they viewed the property.
- When the property Ajusted Value is cloe or same as the Minimum bid means there are a lot of taxes owed and thus not much profit will be made. The only people bidding on those properties will probably be the owners wanting their property back.
- paymnets are by cash or certificed cheque ("check" in US terms). you make the checks out to yourself and when you purchase the proerty you indorce to back of the check and issue itr to the Constable for that presinct.
- encumbances drop off after the 6 month redemption period (Homesteaders are 2 years).
- penality for Harris County is 25% - Homesteaders is 25% during and up to the first year and 50% for the second year to end of redemption period.
- to find out if property is homestead - when researching property it will tell you on the Apprasiers web site. Put int he property ID number and it should take you tot he right page.
- number of people coming in to redeem prior to auction, she said very few people show up to redeme but we can check final list the day before at www.publicas.com a list will be at hte courthouse, just prior to auction.
I also received the 8 Precincts - property for sale and resale bidding list for November 5 and have printed it on an 8 1/2 x 17 format so we can read it.
Hope this helps.

Hi TauJok,
You need to realize this is an important business trip which requires each individual to be independent, accountable and prepared. You will certainly need to book your own flights, accommodation, budget for meals, car etc. Fyi, Brenda and I are returning Wed 6:15pm US Airways and don’t know at this point what hotel/motels will be booked. It will depend on where our target properties are located.
Our goals are quite different as our investment is quite different. If needs coincide, and timing is appropriate, we will try to coordinate our schedule with you but only if it makes sense to do so. To make best use of time you may wish to speak to Andrew about booking a second car, to view properties that you have researched which are in your particular price range, as it is closer to Andrew’s . If four people going, we discussed the need for a second car in the meeting.
Excuse the bluntness, but I think you need to ask yourself, based on your limited capital (cash), is this trip a good use of your resources?? Perhaps you should consider on-line purchases first.

And Dustin mentions another website(http://www.foreclosehouston.com/) which in my opinion has the most comprehensive list services available. We can watch the one minute tutorial @ discuss @ the meeting.
