Note that I have 2 different USB card readers with the correct size slot for the microSD card but could neither format the card with either nor copy files to the card using them. I would either get a failuer to format message or my PC would lock up requiring me to use Task Manager to kill the process.

I came to this thread looking for an answer to why I could not access my 64GB microSD card (replacement from SANDISK) on any of my android devices despite reformatting to FAT32 (using HP USB Disk). Card originally was exFAT.

_ Format Size Adjustment _
If the formatted capacity of the card is not a multiple of capacity in a cylinder, some hosts may not
access the card successfully. This option adjusts formatted capacity to a multiple of capacity in a
cylinder.

reduce the formatted capacity.
This option should be used by specific users who encountered a trouble with formatted capacity.

One thing that irks me about this industry is that they get away with false advertising so openly. The 64GB card only has 59GB capacity. Without explanation I might be inclined to say it is a reserve for bits that go bad in the future but no. They have arbitrarily redefined 1GB to 10^9 instead of 2^30. I hope they next time the ceo of SanDisk goes to the grocery store and buys a dozen eggs the container will only have ten and the one pound steak will only be 10oz because the supermarket redefined what a dozen and a pound is.

I tried the various methods to format my 64GB Micro SD card described here, but none worked on Windows XP, Vista, or Win7computers. Not using USB or SD card slots. Not using SD Formatter. I tried all combinations of FAT32, NTFS and exFAT. They all only detected a physical size under 32GB. Typically 26.5GB

Now with my 3rd RMA card, SAME ISSUE but this time I bought a brand new SD card reader (Transcend SD Card Reader) and still the same issue almost immediately. It froze when transferring files and card is unable to be formatted. I ried other SD cards to see if it was a reader issue but those SD cards (Sandisk, PNY, Generic) seem fine but they were smaller capacity and none SDXC and all those read fine on my phone and readers. I was able to format each of those successfully as well so the issue definitely seems to be with the SDXC.

there are quite a few solutions I found online and I believe there must be at least one that can fix the problem, such as format it at Disk Management, using command line or check and repair bad sectors.

Same problem done with my card also i have 64Gb microSDXC UHS-I, Whne i removed the card when i submitted to my my HTC Desire 820 phone to at Gallery, after service of i put the memeory cards and its showing no data and also not detectin the card. I also connected to my laptop its showing that formate the card to use. please help i want an replace ment i just but the card in march 2015.

I had a Sandisk micro SD to SD adapter that would move the slider to the locked position as it was inserted into the card reader. The same Sandisk card used in an old adapter I had of a different brand worked just fine.

I had 64GB SanDisk Extreme Card that was working fine until I had my son first Birthday. my heart is broken I lost all of it hundreds of photos and videos with a DSLR camera. this is crazy SanDisk where is your QA?!?!!

My problem is how to _un_format my SD card. Yesterday, I was messing with my camera, and one of the options was to format. I did it, but my 64gb micro-sd somehow formatted to 30gb. All of my files were wiped off or at least hidden, and I need help of how to unformat my micro-sd card.

My Roku 3 accepts my Sandisk microSD 2 gb card and the microSD card detected - format-cancel screen comes up. However, when I select format, the screen quickly shifts to the channel lineup screen. I do not see anything showing format is occurring and I could not find anything that would allow me to verify if the microSD card was formatted correctly or not. I also noticed initially that when the microSD Card detected-format-cancel screen appeared, if I did not shift to "format" very quickly, the screen shifted to the Channel lineup; I restarted Roku 3 and then quickly shifted to "format" but nothing happened except the unit quickly shifted to the Channel Lineup screen.

You might try formatting it in a computer and then putting it back in the Roku again. The computer formatting will be reformatted but if there was something interfering with the Roku format that might clear it.

But if you can't get it formatted, don't worry about it. The SD card doesn't make the Roku work any better/faster. All the card does is provide additional channel storage space. If you don't have a lot of channels, the card won't even be used. If you do have more channels installed that space to store them, the Roku will offload the least used channel and download/install the channel if you want to use it again. Since most people probably only use a handful of channels with any regularity, that offload/download won't happen often.

Yes, if you really do use a lot of different channels on a regular basis the SD card will make a slight difference in the speed it will load a channel. But once that channel is loaded, there's no difference in performance.

thank you for your reply and suggestions. In fact, I did format the SD card in my computer and then try it in the Roku 3. I experienced the same thing; saw the card detected screen, quickly selected "format" option and Roku 3 immediately shifted to Channel screen.

Can you or someone else tell me what I should see if formatting actually occurs? Also, is there a way to check the status of the SD card; please describe menu selections I would make to see status of SD card?

I once had a Roku 3 and installed an SD card and ran into some SD card troubles over time. Sorry, I never had the problem of not getting it to format in the Roku, so I don't know how to help with that. I am wondering if it can be caused be the Roku not recognizing the format currently on the card.

It only uses the card to store more channel apps beyond the Roku 3's 256 MB channel storage, and thus reduce the amount of shuffling and reloading it must do when you try to run a channel you haven't used in a while. It only uses 2 GB no matter how big a card you insert.

You may be able to salvage the card. Try formatting the card in your computer, if it has a card reader that can handle SD cards. After formatting, see if the Roku will detect and reformat the card successfully.

For Windows (don't know what would differ on other systems):
Do a slow (i.e. not "fast") format of the card via your computer. Select FAT32 and select it to use the default allocation size.

Same problem.m on Roku 3. Formatted 4gb sandisk sd and it works on laptop. Roku quickly asks about formatting it then moves on to channels without letting me respond. Under systems it says there is no sd. I tried reformatting but same result. Please help-shifting between channels is so slow.

While an SD card would be of some help, the bigger problem is your Roku 3 is now 8 or 10 years old, depending on the model number. It's really a slow device compared to the newest models. The Roku 3 was a fantastic player for many years, but it simply can't keep up with the newest apps written in a language that didn't exist (or was in its infancy) at the time your player was new.

The SD card won't work with the formatting done on the computer. Rather than formatting it again in your computer, instead delete the partition and let the Roku work with a raw SD card. On Windows you can delete the partition using the Disc Manager app.

I put one card in one of the Rokus, and when it was powered back up, I was given the dialog to format the card. I accepted "format" and it took about 2 minutes to finish. After that, it apparently worked without issue.

I put a second card in another of the Rokus. When it was powered up, it did show the format/cancel dialog, but only for a second or so. The dialog went away very quickly, not giving me time to select "format." I haven't tried all of the other 20 combinations, but every other Roku and micro SD card combination that I've tested has had the same problem.

he came back asking if I could load all the micro sd cards for him, as it was a PITA to do so on a MAC? (which I found very odd that MAC users have to jump through hoops to load audio clips to an SD card...but anyways)

I click yes.. it formats..
I load the files to the card (in the order I need as that is a DFPlayer requirement)
I put the card in the DFPlayer..
Loads and see the card fine (as the code below shows it would throw an error if not working)

EDIT: I've just tried using the SD Card Formatter that was linked above, and when you open it up it quite clearly shows if the inserted card is SD or SDHC.
I'm not a qualified expert on SD cards, but I've been playing around with the DFPlayer Mini too.
I've been using these cards (the 128MB version) since the sound samples I've been using are very short. They're obviously SDSC, and Windows Properties shows them as using FAT rather than FAT32.
Your cards might be SHSC or SDHC- this page was really helpful to me when I was looking at what cards to get.
Do your cards work properly outside of the DFPlayer?

I followed the steps here. I'd never used DiskPart before, but it seems to work ok. It does seem that you can't create extended partitions, but if you really want to make a small FAT primary partition you can.

Note: I interact with a DB2 database in which chronological data is stored using timed columns as TIMESTAMP with 6 digits AFTER the seconds i.e. microseconds (IMO).But all those "timestamps" are created by requesting the following query:
