As written by Feynman over 20 years ago, after the inquiry that followed the Challenger disaster, the engineers were convinced that the probability of an engine failure (alone) was around 1/200. The NASA management, on the contrary, claimed the probability of a fatal accident to be about 1/10000, which was (and is) an absolutely irrealistic, and irresponsibly misleading figure, meant to reassure the non-military crew members that were starting to be included in the shuttle missions (e.g. there was a schoolteacher on the Challenger, and she had accepted mainly because the NASA had convinced her that the flight was abolutely safe). If you consider the aging of the structures, the difficulty of proper manteinance and the constant funding cut suffered by NASA, one in 75 is perhaps even a conservative estimate. Comment on what do you think of “google chrome”? by Mau Posted: 04 Sep 2008 05:34 PM CDT Hey guys,after the initial enthusiasm for the entry of BigG in the World of Browsers, I cannot feel completely satisfied, at least in that starting phase of the launch! Indeed, despite the (doubtless real) improvement on loading speed also declared by media and newsp. I encountered some troubles in viewing Pdf files!! (slowness in scrolling pages and successive multiple crashes).That was badly astonishing as well as a bit absurd, since Google-Acrobat bargains are well known to everybody! (think, for instance to Gpack).Lastly, skimming over the “ridiculous”, Chrome didn´t allow me to display images included in the mails of our “Blog Comments Alert”.. and I use gmail and google page to see my mail!! Did anybody of u find similar problems? Best, Mau p.s: as for the logo I Found it pretty good!Just on Gooooogle style..
