Since reinstalling all the sims 2 games onto my new laptop, I have noticed that on my backed up sims 2 files , the neighborhood I use to play only contains the character folder and other files, but does not contain lots, thumbnails, or story telling folders, like the other neighborhoods do.
I don't quite remember what the requirement for the thumbnail is, but it does reside in the aircraft's texture folder with the title, thumbnail. I think it has to be a certain size for it to display, but basically, just put a picture file named thumbnail in the aircraft's texture folder. And also you can check a thumbnail from a default aircraft to find the exact file type and size.

I have a copy of Dr. David Wilson-Okamura on how to Importing Aircraft Into FSX. But now I have windows 7 & 8 you can not amend the aircraft.cfg file via notepad. Also it never gives you details on which photoshop software to use to create the thumbnail...
Hi.. I have a purchased a licensed copy of the PMDG 747-400. All of the PMDG variations of their 747 aircraft appear in the SELECT AIRCRAFT thumbnails just fine. I then downloaded the Northwest livery and ran the file as administrator and received no p...
BTW there is a bug when you change the company name and that modifies the fullname. Some of the thumbnails are deleted in the MarketPlaceData folder, but are still cached in the project.
The build console shows missing thumbnail, how ever looking at the project window - all are there.
You must manually copy the thumbnails back to the MarketPlaceData folder.
I've been trying for months to fix my sim with Tray Importer. I have one family but Tray Importer made the baby's thumbnail disappear and there was nothing I could do so I went to the family in game and aged up the baby and resaved the family. Now I have two versions of this family, so I'm trying to fix the one with the aged up baby since he now has a thumbnail.
When I go to the CC I get lots of red files. I read that means those files are not being read because they are in the mods sub-folders, so I moved all those files out of the subfolders and directly into the Mods. That did not fix a thing. All the CC used was fine previously, I can't even remember what version of Sims 4 I was running when all this started because I just decided I had enough of trying to fix all the nude, bald, now ugly Sims in my game because I had to redress about half of them because they also have invisible clothing, then gave up. I have so many messed up Sims, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?
Here's a quick screen cap of what I'm talking about. Of course this only shows two of the problem files. I have the files and all the meshes, when clicking on show containing folder, it's right there.
Lot of red files
Those two are texture dependencies (see TXTM in the Type column), sometime they are left by the creator and doesn't affect the game, but they could also be missing recolours.
Wow that's a lot to take in. Yes, it deleted the thumbnail for the child. First it showed under the babies tray as red, then I went to the family and saw the baby became a gray no picture sign. While it kept the adults with thumbnails. It was that way when I updated S4TI after updating it and opened it to figure out what's going on with my female sim. I went to try to replace the thumbnail but of course, I didn't know where to look. I'm assuming you mean my recycle bin. This started around September 17th (to my knowledge), a lot of things have been done on this computer since. I frequently backup all game files and I've even replaced the newer with those older backup files that actually worked as a test, but nothing changed. I've tried to replace with even older backups but she hadn't been created at that time.
When I go into the game it shows these files marked red as being normal with the mesh and recolors if they are available. The 'show containing folder' helps a lot too. Also additional 'adult skins' is showing red on S4TI and I keep those up to date and never had problems before and those don't seem to affect my male sim that they are made for. I've tried re-downloading both mesh and recolors of all this stuff, nothing fixes it and the creator doesn't have anything updated. The first time it happened I thought it was the hair style that was ruining everything since that's all I changed, so I kept re-downloading it (and the mesh). I tried putting the hair on a couple other sims. They are fine. I thought maybe she has a defective skin but I can't find any skins assigned to her. S4TI shows another hair style as a problem as well.
I'm also confused about the duplicates because when I check, there aren't any, but it says there are. Before I got my mods folder so organized I used to have duplicates, then I cleaned up the folder. I keep all files under their creator in sub folders and then then one's not marked with a creator directly in mods. Searching the entire 'mods' folder only produces one file. So the current 'find conflicts' doesn't work? I clicked your link but I got.
I have recently noticed a huge (>3.5GB) file in the DCIM/.thumbnails folder. I have tried deleting it, but the next time I open the Camera app it rebuilds the file (and locks up the phone, sometimes displaying a "media scanning in progress" message, in the process.)
The total file size of all the (approximately 2,000) photos displayed in the Gallery is around 500MB. There are in addition around 35,000 images in folders which contain .nomedia files to instruct Android to ignore the media therein. The total file size of these is around 1.5GB. The Gallery app is correctly ignoring these images, but I wonder whether the Camera app is misbehaving and actually processing them.
If you are not using FAT or similar, then those files report a maximum size, but actually do not take up any significant amount of space, since they are so called sparse files. That means you can just delete them once and they'll be recreated but be of zero size, despite reporting a maximum size of whatever.
If you are using FAT or similar, or the reported size of those files is causing trouble with other applications, follow the instructions in prepbgg's answer, to reset the thumbnail indexing back to zero, an operation which you may wish to repeat occasionally.
This happens when you load many images at one time through third party applications like whats'app or pixlrxperss. The only known solution till now is replacing the .thumbnail file with a small .thumbnail file of same name. There might be utmost 2 such files you might have to replace everytime.
When I next ran the Camera app it was unresponsive for a long time, perhaps 20 to 30 minutes, presumably while it was re-scanning media files. After waiting for this to complete things now seem to be OK:
Note that you have to disable features among various apps to prevent stacking up. In X-plore file manager, disable the "Show media files" and it wont generate thumbnails. Lastly add some .nomedia files in the image folder you don't normally reach.
ADE ships with thumbnails for some of the common stock objects found in the different versions of the simulator. However there are objects without thumbnails. We have a couple of 'packs' that contain thumbnails to use with ADE.
IMPORTANT These packs contain small thumbnail images. They do not contain any objects, or bgl object libraries. You do not get the objects when you download these packs, you get thumbnails that ADE can use to show you what a library object looks like. Also please download the pack relevant to the version of the simulator you are using ADE for. It will do no harm if you download and install the wrong one but thumbnails will only get used for objects that match so most will be wasted if you use the wrong pack and many objects in ADE will still not show a thumbnail.
Although ADE ships with a basic set of thumbnails, including them all would make for a large download. The thumbnails for special location Bgl files like St Maarten are not included. So we have some separate thumbnail packs that contain many more thumbnails.
This is the pack for FSX/P3D. The one for FS9 may look slightly different. The pack is a zip file and if you look at the contents you will see a folder containing the thumbnails and a read me (the FS9 pack has no read me at this time)
This is the path to your thumbnail folder and this is where we are going to copy the pack. If the folder name is too long to see then click on the box and you should be able to move the cursor along until you it all.
The new thumbnails are now installed in the thumbs folder. Note that you do not need to extract any folders inside this one - just copy the top level folder across but make sure you have your copy set to copy sub folders as well.
Disregard my last comment, I was confused with the fact that i didn't know ADE automatically loads the thumbnails right when you put the folder in. I thought I had to press the "add folder" option in the Library Objects Manager and find the BigThumbPack folder in order for the thumbnails to load. Why did I think this even though its not in the tutorial above you ask? Because its almost 1am. lol :) Thx for making this guide btw.
I followed the instructions as directed and have the big_thumbnail_pack (with sub-folders) copied as follows H:\FSX Software\FS Design Tools\Airport Design Editor 165\FSX\Thumbs\big_thumbnail_pack. When I open the Library Object Mgr, none of the scenery obj files (folders) appear to select from except StMaartens.
