| I'd like to see the new stuff as well. I am wondering what would be best for my 'bot: adding the Wades first, or the Z-rider, or just Acme rods, or...? On the meeting-up front, I talked to the folks at Splatspace. If we wanted to meet there, we could, gratis. Any member can schedule group meetings there. There are options: Meet once in a while whenever something else isn't going on in the space Have regular meetings, on a schedule Either of those could also be added to the Splatspace Meetup group, which would mean that random people would know it was going on and could show up, which might be nice for getting new people involved. Or they can not be added, so it'd just be us. For my part, I'd rather make some plans for mods online among ourselves, print parts in advance, then schedule one private meeting for us and have a build/tuning party. Reach out to others, later. Those are the options for doing it at Splatspace. If there's a way that we could meet up at TSRDU instead, I'd be fine with that; it's more central, but I am still not a member. Could I get in for an event like that? I definitely want to do SOMETHING to get myself re-jazzed and energized. We're getting a critical mass of people and ought to be making awesomeness. | We could totally use Meetup.com for a meeting whether or not we had it at Splatspace. My comment on it re: a meeting at Splatspace was that we could use Splat's Meetup page for it, so that the followers of that page would see the meeting as well as anyone who was searching for other tags we put on it. It does seem to pull in random, non-Splatspace people when events are put up there. The last "learn to solder" meet had like 25-30 people show up, although that might not be the most conducive for us getting serious work done. I'm up for meeting "wherever." The monthly MakeRDU meetings are meet n talk fests, not work sessions, at least not so far. But we could use the MRDU framework as well. Or TSRDU. Honestly, anywhere with a roof and somewhere to plug in. Oh, and where the management won't freak out. YOU MAKE BAD SMELL! YOU GET PLASTIC IN THE SOUP! YOU SCARE CUSTOMERS! YOU LEAVE NOW! NOW!!! |
