Position Summary:
Reporting to the Digitization Manager, the Digitization Assistant supports the Digitization Unit's library-wide digitization efforts by producing high-quality digital images of library and special collection materials, which are often unique, fragile primary source materials. The Digitization Assistant is responsible for assisting in the digitization process from image capture to post-capture image processing and metadata entry, all while ensuring a high degree of quality control.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the creation of digital surrogates and ensures digital images meet preservation quality standards as established within the department, including lighting, focus, and completeness.
- Assists in image post-processing, including creation of archival and access level digital assets.
- Assists with metadata creation for digital projects.
- Updates tracking documentation of ongoing projects and requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
