I am very interested in being added as an author/contributor. I am
currently in the process of getting rid of the things that I no longer
need/use/care about. The one thing I have found is a really value the
things I've received that people have made for me, e.g. my Doctor Who
scarf, a wash cloth, art, a crochet blanket, etc., or things that are
useful heirlooms, e.g. cast iron skillet, an old timer jack knife,
etc.
I recently had a breakup in my long term relationship. When I moved I
found it was mostly my stuff that was given away, sold, trashed when
we had moved in together. As a result I have very little. It was never
a problem for me, though. I thought I was weird for being so blasé
about my lack of stuff, and then I found sites like Zen Habits,
mnmlist and The Cult of Less.
I don't know if this lifestyle hacking is the be all, end all, but it
is very exciting. Even if it isn't going to work, all I'm doing is
getting rid of stuff, and stuff can always be replaced.
