[TDS Druheen] Independence Day Production

Happy Independence Day to all of you!

Technology Dramatics Society Druheen, presents its Independence Day production before you all tomorrow.

India has come along a long way since its independence. There are skyscrapers, flyovers and satellites
but has modernization reached everywhere? The land of snake charmers is still tabooed with poverty,
illiteracy and superstitions which has been the ready saleable commodity for international film market.
Jyotirmoy, the superstar of Bengali film industry traverses across the different strata of Indian villages
in search of the subject of his films along with his assistant Arup. What does he see? Is it only a
representation of the impoverished, or a mirror image of all that is dysfunctional in our different
relationships-ranging from personal to political? An instinctive call to rebel or an impersonation of
every youth amongst whom the seeds of communal riots were sown?

To get an unblemished answer to all these questions, TDS Druheen welcomes you all to its
Independence Day Production to witness Soumitra Chattopadhyay’s chef-d'oeuvre, "Jonmantar"
