Been quiet here for a while, here's a go at getting things going.  Just getting some material for a course on this topic, anyone doing anything and is happy to share and discuss?  We all have been using games for ages I imagine, I've trialled a few new things if anyone wants to discuss and share.

Hi Kerry, are you referring to the Pinterest board, sorry, I forgot to mention you need to open an account with them to access the boards, I'll add a note to the post.  I hope all is well, how is Chinese going for you in Melbourne?
regards
Ken

Hi all,

Just to remind you, in case you've forgotten, I'm a 'laowai' Chinese teacher who has previously taught Chinese at Caulfield SC (Now Glen Eira), Hawthorn SC, Horsham College all in Melbourne, also at Nanjing Campus of Caulfield Grammar School in China and at the Australian International School in Singapore. After that, I was in Edenhope (far western Victoria) teaching German (just for something different!!).

At the moment, I am teaching English to the primary students of Haileybury International Tianjin Campus. I have been here since the end of August and am enjoying it very much although I'm pretty busy helping get the primary section of the school established. Unlike other international schools in China, all the students are 'local' Chinese students which is interesting and presents its own challenges.

I am (still) interested in the use of technology in language teaching and would like to maybe set up some keypal exchanges with some of my students and some of yours. I have access to IWB and a computer room for the students and they are pretty well-equipped with gadgets although the primary students don't use them in class at the moment. The secondary students have iPads so they would be able to do more in terms of the time available I guess. I could ask my colleagues if anyone is interested in setting up some kind of exchange.

Anyway, feel free to email me on either my Haileybury email (which I check daily) and my Edumail address which is more occasional at the moment (but at least a couple of times per week)

Regards and hope to hear from you! Also happy to do some shopping for 'old school' Chinese resources such as books, posters etc of which there are some really nice things around at the moment. I am living a bit removed from big cities (on the borders between Beijing and Tianjin municipalities: closest place is 'Gaocun' village but Langfang and Wuqing are more likely to be found on Google Earth) so shopping opportunities are a limited to weekends but I'm finding my way around quite well ;-)  Elizabeth
