Title: Network Security Architect

Location: North Chicago, IL

Duration: 6 Months+

 

Locals preferred – Hybrid Remote

 

Description:

 

Provides technical design, implementation and life cycle support for network security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.) Applies IT knowledge, specialized technical experience, research, and analysis to create technical solution specification that meets requirements. Knowledgeable in common tools that support area of expertise. Drives implementation and provides technical support for escalated operational incidents and problems. Monitors and reports task assignment progress and status as required and escalates risks and issues to key stakeholders. Proactively identifies opportunities for continuous improvement by evaluating new technologies, tools and engineering methods that are applicable within area of responsibility and expertise.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the engineering of network security infrastructure: firewall, proxies, WAN, cloud network and cloud security.

Required Skills:
Experience with network and security planning, design, and implementing LAN, WAN, network security, and wireless network infrastructures.
Hands on and working knowledge experience with firewalls, proxies, routers, switches and WAN connectivity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.
Ability to understand enterprise security requirements, develop designs and solutions that align with and meet requirements for IT and business strategy.
Ability to work extended hours or weekends if necessary.

Preferred Skills:
Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CISSP
Working knowledge of network security connectivity with cloud providers.
Working knowledge of SD-WAN technologies
Understanding of micro segmentation

• 7+ years experience with network and security planning, design, and implementing LAN, WAN, network security, and wireless network infrastructures.


What are the top 3-5 skills requirements should this person have?
• Hands on and working knowledge experience with Palo Alto Networks, Checkpoint firewalls and zscaler , proxies, DNS,
• Experience with network and security planning, design, and implementing LAN, WAN, network security,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical subject matter to non-technical audiences
• Ability to understand enterprise security requirements, develop designs and solutions that align with and meet requirements for IT and business strategy.

What is a nice to have (but not required) regarding skills, requirements, experience, education, or certification?
• Degree
