Pursuing a Masters degree in Technical Writing abroad.

Hello,
I'm an Information Science(IT) engineer and have worked in the Service Management industry for 3yrs, that being my first job.Post that I did a short term course in technical writing and earned a certificate for the same. Basically I have the fundamental knowledge of Technical writing and some tools. Later I switched my career to technical writing.Currently am working as a tech writer in small company.Its been 7 months since I started here, but I haven't really learnt or done much in terms of technical writing. I'm considering studying abroad in the US to get a Masters degree in Technical Writing. Does this make sense or am I being imbecile to be doing this? I'm an Indian citizen and I know the cost for the education will be huge. Am a little lost here and need some clarity in this regard. Could someone please guide me?
