मैं यूनीकोड समर्थित हिंदी भाषा के लिए कुछ फॉण्ट तैयार करना चाहता हूँ|  क्या उसके लिए कोई साफ्टवेयर मौजूद है?
जैसा कि अंग्रेजी में फॉण्ट तैयार करना तो (FontCreator7.5) जैसे किसी साफ्टवेयर में फोटो को एडिट करने जैसा है। साफ्टवेयर डाउनलोड करो, अक्षरों को खोल कर मन-चाहा आकार दो और फाइल को एक नाम से सेव कर उसे विंडोस>फॉण्ट फोल्डर में कापी-पेस्ट कर दो। बस..
क्या हिंदी में भी ऐसा ही है ... या यहाँ मामला पेंचीदा है?

मैं हिंदी, यूनिकोड व HTML प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा में साधारण जानकारी रखता हूँ, काफी खोजबीन के बाद भी मुझे हिंदी में सुंदर, डिजाइनदार फॉण्ट एक भी नहीं मिला, जैसा कि अंग्रेजी में आपको अनगिनत रूप, रंग, आकार व रचना वाले हजारों फॉण्ट मिलते है।

निश्चित ही देवनागरी के और फॉण्ट डिजाइन किए जाने चाहिए। इससे अधिक आकर्षक छपाई हो सकेगी जिससे हिन्दी पुस्तकें लोगों को आकर्षित करेंगी।

कहने की जरूरत नहीं है कि फॉण्ट डिजाइन के लिए कुछ तकनीकी ज्ञान के अलावा कलात्मक दृष्टि आवश्यक होती है।

The attached pdf shows the supported codepoints for devanagari and vedic in various free/open source type of fonts. It does not include the Microsoft fonts such as Mangal, Kokila, Aparajita and Utsaah or any other commercial font.

Completely rewritten Open type tables lohit-devanagari is now available. Silent feature of this. 1. Supporting dev2 and deva both. 2. Following AGL 3. Windows7 में Accessories-->System Tools-->Private Character Editor भी बड़े काम का है। तुरन्त आवश्यक फोंट के ग्लीफ बनाकर नया फोंट save करके उपयोग किया जा सकता है।

FontCerator 7.5 , Fontlab 5 या Fontographer 5. इत्यादि भी कुछ साफ्टवेयर है जिनमें फाण्ट बनाए जा सकते है। इनमें से FontCerator 7.5 , Fontlab 5 रंगीन फाण्ट को बनाने में सपोर्ट करते है। रंगीन या चित्रित फाण्ट विंडोस 8.1 में आया है। इससे पूर्व के वर्जन में नहीं है। और इसके बारे में मुझे जो थोड़ा बहुत पता है वह नीचे लिंक वाले एक ब्लाग पर लिखा है।

मैं FontCerator 7.5 , Fontographer व Microsoft VOLT का तुलनात्मक अध्ययन करने में जुटा हूँ ।

 

मेरा ध्यान व खोज का आधार तकनीकी रूप से अधिक सरल व कलात्मक रूप से स्वाधिक अधिक टूल उपलब्ध कराने वाले किसी साफ्टवेयर की ओर है।

Is it only for Emoji or for regular text also?

I was experimenting putting vedic accents in red color (as seen in old manuscripts) for vedic sanskrit text using Context/Luatex. A sample pdf is ttached.

fontforge में हिंदी फांट डिजाइन क्या संभव भी है.

fontcreator7.5 तो मात्र अंग्रेजी और चन्द यूरोपिय भाषाओं के लिए ही उपयूक्त है। 

microsoft volt का फाण्ट का ग्लिस्प डिजाइन के बाद शूरू होता है। अर्थात वह डिजाइनिंग के बाद की कड़ी है।

यदि किसी को विंडोस के  emoji font की झलक पानी है या उपयोग करना है तो वह यही Gmail में ही. मेल लिखते समय  Ctrl + shift + 2 दबाकर प्राप्त कर सकता है।

फांट डिजाइन (font hinting)में आ रही नई समस्याएं

कानूनी बाधा व 

 microsoft volt का फाण्ट का ग्लिस्प डिजाइन के बाद शूरू होता है। अर्थात वह डिजाइनिंग(hinting) के बाद की कड़ी scripting है। font hinting software microsoft VTT है. जो कि कंपनी फ्री में देती है। पर वह नेट पर डाउऩलोड के लिए उपलब्ध नहीं है। निम्न लिंक के अनुसार हमें पहले उसे निम्न अनुबंध पत्र साइन कर भेजाना होगा। 

लेकिन मेरे समझ में कुछ बातें नहीं आ रही है, जिसके संबंध में मैं आप सभी से आपके मत जानना चाहूँगा।
अगर यह साफ्टवेयर फ्री में उपलब्ध है तो कंपनी इसे नेट पर डाउनलोड के लिए क्यों नहीं देती?

क्या Vtt में डिजाइन किए फांट पर मेरा अधिकार होगा. या उसे कंपनी द्वारा उसका लाइसेंस  जब्त कर लिया जाएगा।
मेरी अंग्रेजी बहुत अच्छी नहीं है. पर मुझे

तकनीकी बाधा

fontforge विंडोस 7 में खुलने के बाद जैसे ही कोई फांट को डिजाइन करने लगो तो प्रोग्राम डैमेज के संदेश के साथ बंद हो जाता है।

fontcreator 7.5 में हिंदी फांट export करने पर सभी डिजाइन किए फाण्ट बाक्स वाले error में बदल जाते है. और इंस्टाल कर टाइप करने पर box error के अलॉवा और कुछ प्राप्त नहीं. होता.

Coral Draw में Export का प्रोसेस ठीक से नहीं हो पाता

Adobe का ADFKO , पाइथन लैंगवेज जानने वालों के लिए है और मुझे बेसिक HTML से अधिक कुछ नहीं आता।

विंडोस का प्राइवेट कैरेक्टर एडिटर में टूल की संख्या नगण्य है अर्थात आप एक सामान्य आकार से अधिक कुछ नहीं बना सकते है। 

क्या किसी को और कोई साफ्टवेयर पता है। जिसमें हिंदी का फाण्ट बनाया जा सके। जिसका मुफ्त या क्रैक वर्जन कुछ भी उपलब्ध हो।

I think the Lohit fonts, including Lohit Devanagari are developed using Fontforge. Please see https://raw.github.com/pravins/lohit/master/README

GNU Freefont project also uses Fontforge for font development - the new version of Freeserif (under development) has very good support for devanagari - including the new devanagari extended range as well as vedic extensions. Please see http://svn.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/trunk/freefont/sfd/?root=freefont and contact Steve White, the project administrator if you have any questions.

Both these projects use Fontforge on Linux - it may not have good support under windows.

Fontforge में development Linux में बेहतर ढंग से होता है, विण्डोज के कुछ वर्सन्स में कई समस्याएँ आती हैं।

The original question was in Hindi.​

​One of the list members wants to create ​

​new fancy typefaces for devanagari and was looking for the best available tool.  ​

​He had tried Fontforge but it crashed under windows so he wasn't sure if it could be used for Hindi font development.

Hi Shree,

Yes, what you say is accurate.  Most free-software licensed fonts are
developed using FontForge, I guess.  (The alternatives all cost money,
which is what we free-software people typically don't have.).

But I didn't see what the question was...

I'm told, the commercial font editing sofwares have each their own
special features, and in some ways are better than FontForge, but on
the other hand, FontForge has features thay don't.  And they all crash.
And FontForge is open-source and freely available.  So...

It is possible by various means to run Linux within a Windows session,
and I know people do that to run FontForge.

There was a corporate proposal to provide a portable user interface
for FontForge a couple of years ago.  (I was asked, but I wanted more
money than they were willing to provide.)  I don't know how far this
effort went.
