Hi,
This has been one long pending task, that of reviewing the wordlist
used in Hindi Aspell. A review of all the words in it and with
corrections would make a more accurate Hindi spellchecker
The current wordlist has about 83514 words in it. I have split the
file into chunks of about 2000 words each - total about 42 files.

Check if the word is valid (as in exists or not)
* if valid and spelling is correct leave it as is
* if looks valid but wrong spelling correct it , suffix by C
  eg सवास्थ्य
   स्वास्थ्य , C
* if there are variants to a base word
   eg, लडका   लडके  लडकों  etc  put them in one line like
  लडका , लडके  लडकों
* if invalid word, it could be deleted , suffix by D
  लेडेकों , D
* if transliteration/origin of english/foriegn word leave as it is,
suffix it by E
इलेक्ट्रिकल , E
स्विच , E
(these are not good examples, but just to give idea).

Send back the file once you have completed it as per steps above.

Anyone with good hindi knowledge can volunteer to correct the word
lists.
* Announce that you are interested
* Take up one file ( you can take upto 3 weeks to complete it)
* If you do it sooner you can take another part.
* If all parts assigned, you can do a review of another part (which
you didnt do).
* keep file names same, dont add extra words.

No, you only need to add. Delete only in case of duplicates.

Try to correct the pronunciation and then put suffix.

we now HAVE स्वर और मात्राएँ for accurately pronouncing

english names, places, terms, words used in hindi

 

we SHOULD avoid the 'onceUponATime'  बाल for ball ..

and should STOP looking silly in front of interanational community !

ऍ  - estonia

ऎ - at (at the rate of .. in email addresses)

ऑ - online .. offline

ऒ - austria .. australia

 

the 4 new मात्राएँ :

ॅ - web 

ॆ - vat (indian tax on goods)

ॊ - jaws (the movie)

 

indians HAVE to appear as smart as they really ARE !

and speak english, german, french, italian words correctly

 a spell checker is to check spellings .. it is neither a dictionary (purity, accuracy, meaning, explanations, etc are vital) .. nor is it a utility of the "grammar" kind

 i guess, it HAS TO include all the commonly used words .. and .. with the noble intentions of this ASpeelChecker initiative .. this task cannot be avoided .. the task WILL become massive ! ..

 English SpellChecker needs to check both "lie" and "lying" for correction .. i guess BOTH words are included .. hindi spellcheckers will need to check not only the root (dhatu) word .. but also all kinds of vatiations, permutations, combinations and so on .. so it is a compulsion to allow the facility to "ADD" words, wordForms, word+suffix, prefix+word, pluralForms (chahiyen etc), genderForms

 THEREFORE, the task becomes very important .. there CANNOT be 'myHindi' with 'hisHindi' with 'herHindi' with 'ourHindi' with 'theirHindi' with 'ukHindi' with 'mumbaiyaHindi' .. we will HAVE to draw limits

 hindiSpellings for otherLanguage words

 hindi speaking persons are usually ridiculed .. for calling जॉर्ज as जार्ज .. this ridculing MUST stop .. hindi speaking people are very learned too !

 THIS will need to write those words of otherLanguages VERY accurately in hindi script .. for this 'expanded' hindi, use of the newer maatraas is the ONLY solutions .. we just DON'T have the sounds of those languages available in devanaagarii, sanskrit, hindi, or other indian languages !

लक्ष्य जब ASpell को सुधारना है तो हिन्दी में english words
भी exactly as pronounced लिखना * शायद * अनिवार्य है

हिन्दी में english words लिखना ही हो तो -
bat = बॅट not बेट (जो bait के लिये प्रयोग होगा)
ball= ब़ॉल not बाल
george= जॊर्ज not जार्ज

औचित्य की कसौटी पर इन चार नयी मात्राओं को हिन्दी में
शायद बनाना ही एक दोष या पाप था :
ऍ ऎ ऑ ऒ
ॅ ॆ ॉ ॊ

पर सारे बच्चों को cat, mat, rat, bat, ball हिन्दी में
केट मेट रेट बेट बाल उच्चारण कराना हास्यप्रद होगा

हिन्दी का मज़ाक न बनें
(स्वयं हिन्दी बोलने वाले भी बाज़ नहीं आते .. जिनका
हिन्दी का मज़ाक बनाना स्पष्ट अथवा परोक्ष mission
या agenda हो वह तो करेगे ही)

य़ह एक महत्वपूर्ण और ज़िम्मेदारी वाला कार्य है
मेरी english की vocabular और उच्चारण पर 100 %
rely किया जा सकता है

लेकिन हिन्दी के शब्दों की vocabulary इस गम्भीर कार्य के
योज्ञ नहीं है

क्या यह संभव है कि सारे E remark वाले शब्द छाँट
कर honourable volunteers मुझे first correction या
2nd referral के लिये भेज दें

वह कार्य भार तो पूरी 42 फ़ालों का भी मेरे लिये
बायें हाथ का खेल है ( यह उतना ही सच है
जितना मेरे लिये हिन्दी की एक भी list को
कर पाना प्रायः असंभव है)
