Job Title: OpenShift Engineer

Location:  Atlanta, GA

Our client is seeking a Senior Virtualization Engineer to support a large-scale platform modernization initiative, migrating enterprise workloads from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization. This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, requiring an engineer who can hit the ground running in a production environment.

This position is not container-focused—expertise in OpenShift Virtualization / OpenShift Virtualization Engine and traditional virtualization platforms is critical.

 

Key Responsibilities

·       Lead and execute the migration of virtual machines from VMware to Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.

·       Design, configure, and optimize OpenShift Virtualization environments to host enterprise VM workloads.

·       Perform hands-on platform engineering, including build, migration, validation, and performance tuning.

·       Integrate and manage compute, storage, and network components across hybrid infrastructure.

·       Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and network teams to ensure seamless platform operations.

·       Troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, and network issues in a production environment.

Required Qualifications

·       Strong hands-on experience with VMware and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization / Virtualization Engine.

·       Proven experience migrating virtual machines from VMware to an alternative virtualization platform (OpenShift or equivalent).

·       Solid understanding of enterprise virtualization concepts (compute, networking, storage, HA/DR).

·       Experience working in fast-paced, large-scale infrastructure environments with minimal ramp-up time.

Preferred / Plus Skills

·       Experience with HPE servers and Dell storage platforms.

·       Strong networking background, especially with Juniper technologies.

·       Storage architecture and performance tuning experience.

·       Exposure to alternative virtualization platforms beyond VMware.
