Robotics is one of the current leading technological advances; it is rapidly growing in popularity, at the hobby level as well as at the industry standard. With this in mind, there is going to be a new Robotics Club starting next year. Please note that this club is in addition to the Electronics Club, which will focus primarily on electronics.
The aim of the Robotics Club will be to support and foster interest in various aspects related to robotics; in particular, mechanical design. The club will cater to the interests of hobbyists and beginners in robotics, as well as of seniors who may be involved in professional design. The club will also extend support to the participants of robotics-related competitions that are held at Shaastra and Techfest, for instance. Through this club, we hope to create a steady culture for innovative robotics design in the campus.
Nominations for the Club Managers (2 positions) for the Robotics Club (2011-12) are invited. The Club Managers will lead a team of 6 coordinators to organize events including workshops, competitions (including GCs) and talks, as well as float and manage projects to promote robotics in the institute. A detailed description of duties and powers, is available in the constitution attached.
To be eligible, candidates should have completed at least 3 semesters as a student at IIT Bombay and should not be passing out before April 2012. Moreover, they should have no active backlogs or dropped courses. Candidates should not be holding any other position in the institute during 2011-12.
Procedure:
Please prepare a Statement of Purpose. Since this is a new club, we expect you to come up with new and original ideas - this will make a strong part of your application. Candidates are requested to do their groundwork well; we are looking for people who will not only ensure the club functions well, but will take the lead and bring something new to the club.
