The "n" in Send n is only valid for an English Windows 7 (Next desktop background). You'll have to change it if your Windows 7 is not in English to match the underlined key.

Edit: Well, I didn't install AutoHotKey, but someone at www.technixupdate.com/keyboard-shortcut-or-hotkey-to-switch-to-next-windows-7-desktop-wallpaper/ compiled it and it works with or without desktop icons showing. I just thought it wouldn't work as when I have my icons hid, the "Application" key and Shift-F10 both do not work. So, don't listen to me, it will probably work...

I found the second version of the script ran best. Because the window key+d command toggles between the window and the desktop if you are already in the desktop it may switch away from the desktop first instead of switching to it. The following works better for this reason :-)

I have set slideshow as my Windows 10 background. I can right click on the desktop and select Next desktop background to change it to the next image. Is there any way to do this via cmd or powershell considering my current Shuffle setting in slideshow (on or off)?I found that this item is located here in regedit and its data

After installing AutoHotKey, put the above text in a .ahk file anddouble-click it to test. You may stop the script by right-click onthe green H icon in the traybar and choosing Exit. To have it run on login, place it in the Startup group at
C:\Users\USER-NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

Don't worry - it's quick and painless! Just click below, and once you're logged in we'll bring you right back here and post your question. We'll remember what you've already typed in so you won't have to do it again.

i am basically looking for shortcuts like skip to next song and pause, etc., however these should work while spotify is minimized, the shortcuts that i've found trough google are only working while Spotify is open.

It seems there's so many great ideas being suggested and getting a lot of votes but they just keep getting marked "not right now" or even "great idea" or whatever and yet they don't get implemented. Instead features are removed. Where in the world is the thumbs up/down feature for all songs? (not just radio)

Ok maybe I can understand why this feature is not yet implemented, maybe we are a small portion of people requesting this. But how in the **bleep** is there no "pause", "play", "next", ... options when I right click on the tray icon ? I used computers for many years and I was so surprised not to see these options just when I expected them the first time I right clicked on the tray icon, not really user friendly if you ask me..

What about updating it with an actual hotkey system? Any other program has it. What if i m gaming and streaming and want to pause and start the music? Just add an hotkey option, something that looks like what OBS has for example. It can t be that difficult

What file controls the image displayed on the desktop background. And how might i go about editing it so that i can change the background by pressing a key on my keyboard (is a way to do that already?). I have Ubuntu 16.04.

Simple way to do so is via gsettings command paired together with zenity --file-selection which allows you to choose a file. There are more advanced ways to do it via python and python-gi API, but a simple and short shell script is sufficient.

System is Windows Server 2008 R2 - fresh install. Script executionpolicy is set to RemoteSigned, and I don't see any PS errors. I Just don't see the desktop refresh automatically when running from a desktop shortcut.

rundll32.exe user32.dll, UpdatePerUserSystemParameters didn't actually change the wallpaper for me on a 2008 x64 box. This does did though... It calls the Win32 API to invoke changing the wallpaper. If you save this as your ChangeDesktop.ps1 script it should work. As it is below it will remove any desktop wallpaper. However if you do want to set one you can edit the last line with the path of a supported image file like this:
