Two Cyber Education Events for MS & HS Educators in Colorado| April 18th
Colorado Cybersecurity Summit for K-12 Educators. UCCS is hosting a one-day summit to address how best to bring cybersecurity into Colorado classrooms. The event will cover key issues that must be addressed, including sourcing cybersecurity curriculum, educating teachers via CDE endorsements to teach cybersecurity in the classroom, and ensuring that your school or district’s IT/tech infrastructure can support the process.
Capture the Flag (CTF) Challenge. If you’re interested in applying what you know about cybersecurity or building your cyber skills in a fun, challenging and hands-on way – or if you just want to see what your students are up to when they play – join your colleagues for an informal Capture the Flag (CTF) Challenge. What is a CTF? A CTF is a cybersecurity competition or training exercise where participants use the provided cybersecurity tools to find corrupt files, vulnerabilities, text strings, and other system issues or weaknesses. Once this hidden information or “flag” is found, participants move on to the next challenge. The more challenges you/your team can crack, the more likely you are to win the CTF! This CTF will be run on EC-Council’s CTF platform – an industry-recognized system that is proven and easy-to-use, for beginners and experienced hackers alike. NOTE: The CTF will follow the Colorado Cybersecurity Summit for K-12 Educators.
Date: Friday, April 18th
Time: 4:30 – 7:00pm
Location: UCCS Kevin W. O’Neil Cybersecurity Center: 3650 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs (Room 106A)
To register: Fill out this MSFT Form. A confirmation email will be sent within a week with further details.
