Dialog broadband for Ubuntu 9.10

Could you please tell us what happened? Because you can do it with several clicks. See the attached screenshot.

It's attached with this msg. Sorry about missing it.
 

If your computer does not detect the modem as a modem, then right click on the mobile partner icon on desktop and then do a safe removal.

Ubuntu detects the modem and I can see that Mobile Partner icon on the desktop. but when I try to connect, it fails. I tried to configure it using that simple wizard, but no change. I'm pretty sure about the number. I'll try it again using that APN, 'dialogbb'.

my problem is solved! :D I used the APN you've shown in your snapshot. then the connection was established. but still I couldn't browse web using firefox. after some privilege settings(I guess) it's also ok now! I'm replying from Ubuntu!!! thanks a lot for your help shakunthala aiya! :) :) you are doing a great job in techkatha group as a resource person. thanks again for contributing in my first progressive step on Ubuntu!

You can use either use OpenDNS or Google Public DNS to ensure faster browsing. In the edit connection dialog box, there is a tab for IPv4 settings. You can find DNS under that.

OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Google DNS: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

I recommend using OpenDNS, because I used Google DNS began to give me troubles past few days.

Also you can have more control over your DNS when using OpenDNS.

you can use both OpenDNS and Google DNS in mix, since DNS try more
then one DNS server if one fail

DNS 1 - 8.8.8.8
DNS2 - 208.67.222.222
DNS3 - 8.8.4.4
DNS4 - 208.67.220.220
