Does anyone have guidelines for setting up Kmar directory services with Gsuite?

You can't go from Kamar DS direct to G suite. (not yet ;)

you can go Kamar to AD to G Suite through this requires two applications uSync (shameless plug) for the kamar to AD and then GCDS (Google Cloud Directory Sync) to sync AD to google.

Simon Wright

Hi,

Not directly. There are multiple options for doing that through an Active Directory/Domain Controller on site, some that are developed by members of this forum:

Jake's ADSync (Free as it's just open source code you can edit):

and Simon Wright's uSync (Not free, but not expensive and has a GUI to configure and runs as a service etc):

I used a modified version of Jake's sync, and while I appreciated the extra configuration options it allowed me, I switched to uSync earlier this year as I didn't want to maintain the code myself (for our specific needs) and liked some of the extra features uSync has.

Thanks for the advice. Usync looks like the way to go.

Have used both and can really only recommend uSync. The main takeaway I had between the two is the cost and the understanding uSync actually wants to improve the product so is very receptive of feature suggestions and specific needs. Ited charges per student which never made sense to me, ends up getting quite expensive for a larger school and I don't think a syncing service justifies such a high cost considering ongoing developer cost is low. Our particular onboarding process with ITED was bad and all of our AD was deleted by ITED. Usync however has an audit mode and made it quite trivial to get everything setup just right.

I echo my support for uSync for all the same reasons. An example of feedback/development, I asked about how I might achieve a particular off boarding flow with users, and Simon (the dev) suggested a workaround (which I'm using successfully now) and then released an option within a week that achieved the same thing with my previous flow.

My only experience with iTed was from when theyh offered some support for KDMS which I understand wasn't PAID support but part of an agreement with KAMAR, but still wasn't great. I don't blame them for that really, but serves as a comparison.

Installed the new iTed yesterday, got licensed within the hour. We had been using the older free one prior to Kamar upgrade,  haven't been synching since. Fired up today, quick refinement to match up a couple of fields, then all good. Assuming the passwords all work... will check tonight. Main reason I like it is it doesn' t have to run on a domain controller, doesn' t need a web server or PHP. Just dotNet4.8.

Just throw my 2cents in that uSync doesn't have to be run on a domain controller and also only requires dotNet4.8.
