Kia ora,

We are currently evaluating alternatives to Microsoft Teams Phone in favour of a more stable solution. At this stage, we are considering platforms such as 3CX and 8x8.
I would be interested to hear if anyone has experience using either of these systems, and if so, any feedback or insights you could share.

One of my schools had a complete debacle of a Teams install and they ended up abandoning it entirely and moving to hero.co.for PBX service using Grandstream phones. The solution was quoted & installed by local (Nelson) firm NelTech.

The school is very happy with the final outcome :)

We are with fastcom. Managed 3CX with Yealink phones and some softphones (3cx app). Works great, no issues.

I'll second Pete on hero.co.nz , they've worked very well with our internal FreePBX system (a virtual on proxmox) as our SIP trunk provider.

I've got four very old but perfectly serviceable Cisco SIP phones. Very good quality. I've run them on 3Cx and Asterisk systems in the past.
Anyone like them before I send them to the recyclers?

Heya Steve

I'll take one - happy to pay postage. I recently set one up at my neighbours house so that their kids and my daughter could call each other just like in the olden days :) I set them up with a free Hero 028 number each and created a 1-button push-dial (they're all <10 years old so lets make it easy). Then I set a toll bar on the lines so they can't incur any charges.

It's been running for a few months now with no problems or any cost :)

I'll shoot you a note off-list.

Pete

I have found 3CX to be the most reliable off the shelf product. It is also a price competitive platform once you start looking through alternatives, despite the recent licensing changes. All VOIP solutions do rely on a capable network and a decent SIP Trunk provider though. I have delivered a few different phone systems from 3CX, to Teams and Grandstream and prefer working with 3CX.

Disclaimer I am from Cyclone and are involved in their managed VOIP solution. Happy to answer questions in the group or privately though.
