Hi Everyone

We have our new shipment of HP Elitebook 850 G5's and have run into an issue with our LTSB image.

We are getting multiple BSOD and therefore haven't been able to hand any out to staff.

This image was used for our G3's with no issues and I updated the image to include the new drivers for G5.

Because of the above, and perhaps reusing the previous image wasn't wise, I created a brand new image from scratch yesterday.

I put on Windows 10 LTSB 2016, installed updates direct from Microsoft and then installed the drivers using HP Support Assist.

The laptop is outside of our OU's that apply policies and install software so none of the normal stuff has been added.

I left the laptop overnight and this morning found that is had blue screened and restarted 3 times.

There is no point creating an image from this.

Does anyone have this combination working?

Is this new laptop just not compatible with Windows 10 LTSB and we need to look at a different version of Windows 10?

Our entire site is LTSB (about 550 devices) and we haven't hit a road block like this before.

Kind regards,

We've got one running LTSB just fine. Initial sysprep image was installed with no special drivers at all and then drivers downloaded from HP directly and only those required were installed.

Your first G3 image didn't alter any BIOS settings did it? Are you using UEFI?

There is an msupdate somewhere required for it to properly recognise the SSD.

I can't say anything for LTSB version, ive been deploying v1709. Just finished doing 22 of the new G5 840s without issue.

What is the BSOD error code/what does it refer to?

What Alistair said might be the issue. We have an LTSB image set up on a virtual machine with no drivers but patched with the latest microsoft stuff then syspreped and that is what we push out to new machines. The drivers get added later via Zenworks depending on the hardware.

Hi

We haven't touched the bios so it's still UEFI.  We didn't change the G3 bios either.

Here is the dump file from the crashes.

We think we may have an answer.  We have turned off USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) in the bios.  This is what the driver ucmusci.sys relates to that the minidump shows.

We are using a usb c to vga adapter and it shows up in device manager as billboard device under USB devices in Device Manager and still works with the above disabled.
