Kia Ora All,
I wanted to alert you to a very important email that will have just hit your admin inbox.
We have been letting people know that mandatory 2FA for admins was been coming for about 6 months now and we are at the point that is is now rolling out.

This security uplift is mandatory for all admins in your domain.

Please read the email and check who in your domain will need to set up 2FA, there is a link int the email (I have pasted a copy of the email that I got as an admin here too)

Key dates and changes:

  • August 21, 2025: Super admins will start to receive notifications that 2SV will soon be mandatory for their admins.

  • September 20, 2025: Admins will start to receive notifications to enable 2SV.

  • September 25, 2025: Admins who haven't set up 2SV will start experiencing interruptions, such as full-screen pop-ups and warning messages.

  • October 21, 2025: 2SV will be required to access any part of the account. Admins will initially be locked out of their accounts, but an Enroll Now button will be displayed, allowing them to self-unlock by setting up 2SV.

  • Starting December 4, 2025: Admins who haven’t set up 2SV will be locked out of their accounts without the Enroll Now button. They must reach out to fellow admins to gain access. If no other admins are left to assist, they would need to contact Google Workspace Support in order to regain access through the various options.

Admins who already have 2-step verification will not be affected by these changes.

Note: The enforcement date, December 4, 2025, takes precedence over any enforcement date your organization may have set up in the Admin console at Security > Authentication > 2-step verification.
